Blazers fan here. Gotta give it up. Pure greatness by Kobe. Twice.

Thx. The Blazers have made every single game up there for us like storming Omaha sector at Normandy beach. Look at the shots that needed to be made just to eke out a 1 pt win. Last time LA won both up there was 96 and that year the Blazers won both at LA, including a gamewinner at the buzzer by James Hollywood Robinson.

Remember this like yesterday. Always been my fave Kobe buzzer/s. But aside from that in OT with 30 secs left look how clever Kobe was on that handoff to Shaq. He got passed Darius then forced his way into Theo Ratliff to thwart off his shot blocking off easily to Shaq for a clutch and one. Plays like that seriously blows under the radar especially for Kobe where they say he couldn’t pass. Those who actually watched Kobe know how much of an underrated passer he was.

@nonplayerzealot43 жыл бұрын
I do too, Hans. It really sucks that he and his daughter and all those people were taken so young. There was a parent couple who died and their kids are probably with relatives now. That accident overturned a lot of peoples' lives on 1/26/20. RIP to all of them. I'm proud merely that I'm the only person on YT who has the local LA broadcast of these shots, so the younger crowd can see what I saw live that night. I remember during that game thinking the Lakers were gonna actually win there (they had a bad losing streak for years at Port, so most people would've stopped recording after LA went down by double digits, but I had a feeling). That was the best game winner of Kobe's kareer imo. He had a lot of great ones, but this and the trey before it were heavily defended by Patterson and then Kobe had to arch that last one over the arm of a 6'10 defender while falling backwards. The difficulty level on that shot was off the charts, Hans. He was amazing.

I’ll always remember this game I was watching ESPN and the Sportscenter was giving the game to the Blazers and say “This game is over. Even though there is 1 second to go, it looks like the Lakers won’t be able to pull this off.” I left the room for a minute or two and they said “The Lakers have won on a miraculous shot by Kobe Bryant.” Goes to show, games are never over until the clock reads 0.0

Watching this again in full. Damn, the Blazers had every name in the book that year. Reminds me of their 2000 squad. Not necessarily a well-balanced team just like in 2000. Lotta 2s and 3s, lotta finesse exterior scoring, no banger besides old Dale Davis. But they had a lot of individual talent.

My favorite Kobe Bryant buzzer-beaters. I remember seeing this live and being absolutely shocked and elated. 2003-2004 was such a whirlwind of a season; Kobe was dealing with his court case, the issues between Shaq and Kobe were getting worse, and there was an overall sense of uneasiness amongst the team (a lot had to do with the high expectations the team had after signing Karl Malone and Gary Payton in the off-season) . It really felt like the Lakers were on the verge of self-destruction, yet somehow they prevailed on the last night of this season on the final play. A truly remarkable moment.

They'll drop Gm 5, too, probably. This year's team doesn't have the ganas (desire) to do it again. First non-repeat Laker team since 88. What really sucks is that LeBron is old and can retire this Summer and nothin would harm his legacy and at the same time, we're locked into AD for god knows how many years. He's a shrinking violet. A #2 if there ever was one and he hasn't even decided to play that role honestly this year. I know we had injuries and all that, but no one can obviously tell either of us that this squad was prepared mentally going into the playoffs. They were half dead even in the play-in game against GS. That was a bad sign. Even if by some scant chance that they decide to play inspired ball and squeak by PHX, they'll be eliminated by anywhere from 1-4 teams that are more complete than them. Lotta decisions to make next year, all impinging on Brawn's desire to return. No matter what, an offseason beginning in early June can't hurt them restwise. Maybe Brawn returns for 22 and they pick up some better pieces like they did in 19 and decide to have another divine season like they were having in 19/20 before Covid fucked everything up. As far as that goes, it also sucks that no one will ever wanna replay bubble playoff games and the viewership was terrible last year, so it's like a forgotten championship.
@nonplayerzealot44 жыл бұрын
Kobz made a BUNCH of great shots and passes for scores from RS to both OTs. It's not just the two shots. He hit a huge trey to put them up by 3 for a few secs. Blazers were just hittin whatever junk they threw up this night. It was a mini-miracle that LA pulled this one off considering Porty's heat.

It was a rough Summer for him in 2003, if you know what I mean. I can imagine him not having much of an appetite for awhile. He was bulked up in 2002/03 before the Eagle, CO nonsense.. He was damn near a Terminator in 2003, but he spent the next two seasons in lean mode and returned in 2005/06 bulked up again, and he avg'd like 35 a game that year. I watch 2002 games as opposed to 2003 and wonder which Kobe was better. He was leaner in the early Frobe years, but he was very quick. He was obviously robbed of that when he weighed 20+ lbs heavier.
@jamalabdelbaset66355 жыл бұрын
nonplayerzealot4 Great points! Kobe actually bulked up in 04-05. I think he was too heavy that year. He was like 230. In 05-06, he trimmed down to 220. That’s the Summer he worked out like a madman with his workout being posted in an ad for Nike in SLAM Magazine. As far as 02 vs 03, I’ve gotta give the nod to 03. He was still incredibly fast to go with his new frame. He was indeed The Terminator that season!
@nonplayerzealot45 жыл бұрын
@@jamalabdelbaset6635 I loved that 03 Terminator mode. Not even the best of the best players get to "The Zone" for extended periods, but Kobz seemed to be in there for at least a dozen games in a row. He was hitting all kinds of funky shots and his dunks were Kemplike, small hands or not. Nothing could stop him and his FG% was excellent almost every night when he went on that streak in Feb. They needed it too because they were still .500 on 2/1. I remember stans on RealGM all saying they were gonna miss the playoffs, and they would've been right if not for Superkobe.
