Great Video JSM as usual!!! I’m glad you mentioned the narrative on Dlo in the playoffs. In particular, the finals. People are blaming him as it The Lakers went to him in the same capacity when that was far from the truth. They went away from what had been successful for them towards the end of the season which was the DLO/AD pick n roll which was a HUGE mistake. As you said he is able to play off ball but not exclusively….hell you can make an argument his on ball play and playmaking ability helps him with get successful off ball opportunities making him more effective and efficient. Watching the finals you can tell he was outta rhythm….there was WAY too much LBJ handling the ball.

As much as I like Max Christie, I want Reddish to have more playing time. If Cam can finally show more effort on defence, play with consistency, and keep the offence going (especially in the corner), Vando could be the odd man out in the rotation.

D'Lo and Reaves should share guard duty as both are combo guards. It's the luxury of options. Then you can pair Gabe Vincent with Max Christie for the second unit.
@dan7291able

Agreed, however, closing line up should be Vincent, Reaves, Vando, Bron and AD, our 5 best defenders WITH a little shooting to boot

I agree that Reddish and Hayes have the most to prove this year. I’d probably go with Vanderbilt and Christie next, if only because their roles aren’t fully defined yet, and because they both have yet to be extended. Lastly, I’d probably go with Hood-Schifino, because of his relatively high draft position. Everyone else either seems secure in their role (Russell, Vincent, etc.), or won’t receive enough playing time to show out (Lewis, the 2-way guys, etc.). 🏀

Laker fans really need to stop writing off Reddish. If Ham gets through to Ham to buy into playing defense while improving his jumper, I wont be surprised if Vando is the odd man out

I think there is also a lot of pressure on Gabe Vincent to be at least equally effective (considering both offense and defense) as DS was last season.
@jonathanpoblete5161
@jonathanpoblete5161 Жыл бұрын
Pressure? Or Potential? DLO is the starting point and Austin's rising means theres not too much pressure on Gabe. He has great iq and ast/to ratio. I feel as long as he plays smart and efficient basketball he puts pressure on DLO. Gabe is like the 3rd up PG that has possibility to be the main back up with significant time. It doesnt fall under him to contribute to Lakers sucess as it would DLO. If theres pressure, it would be to be a solid 20 min / game point guard (mid reliever ish type ball player) to play alongside LBJ or AD to let the other sit. If any pressure, its to unlock his potential to become a breakout 6man or even borderline starter - earning a great new contract for himself. I guess in that sense yea pressure to be like DS (if not better) because of his fit for that role.
@johnn7994
@johnn7994 Жыл бұрын
We don’t have a lot of athleticism at the guards; DS provided some, but now he’s gone. Vincent is not as good as DS at getting to the rim and finishing, but should be better at 3-pt shooting, but that needs to really happen. DS was part of the 8-man playoff rotation. Vincent had a good playoffs. Just saying that we need Vincent to acclimate to the new team, play well on both sides of the ball, play well enough to be in the closing lineup on most nights.

@@johnn7994Gabe has a layup, floater, mid range game, something Dennis didn’t have , Dennis was better getting to the rim but if you’ve watched gabe he can get to the rim lol trust me.

Im a fan of Cam, hoping he can tap into the potential and expectations. In my opinion, this roster and staff should be a motivator for him. I see he has defensive talent that needs to flourish to get more time. He should get more freedom to work when he shows results on the defensive end. With this Laker roster .. if he can show he can get steal / game and possible two.. he should be earning time. It would be a role similar to Trevor Ariza. Whether he gets the most time he can or limited - he should be given time and make the most of it. Even without a quanitiable stat on defense the defensive presence and hustle would be vital to his success and the contribution needed on this roster.

Honestly? i LOVE Cam, and I know he hasnt shown enough, but i HAVE to believe this was the perfect spot for him, we're gonna see this kid really come into himself this year, just play decent D and hit 37+% on 3's and youre gonna be a superstar here bud, I have faith in you!

@jsm I disagree that Reddish is in a do or die situation I like him as he has size and speed so imagine those situations those 3rd quarters when DLO switches to SG and Vando Lebron and AD are on the bench It's Vincent DLO Reddish or Christie w Rui and Hayes - The optionality is going to be scary for 20-25 opposing teams
@JSM24
@JSM24 Жыл бұрын
Everyone would agree that he’s got “size and speed” and *could* use that to be a good defender. However, the problem is that he never commits to doing that. Talent/potential doesn’t mean much if a player doesn’t use it to contribute to team basketball/winning. Reddish has now failed to do that consistently in 4 straight seasons.

Fr Cam has a mid career so far, and there will always be a need for mid. I do believe he has a high ceiling and am rooting for him big time. But people talking like he's trash or something and on his last opportunity are just talking. Everybody in the league is on their 4th team lol

Only a rookie, but JHS has to show why they drafted him. There were a few players that Lakers could have chosen instead of him. He doesn't have to be good right away, but at least show improvement like Max did.
@JSM24
@JSM24 Жыл бұрын
I somewhat agree, but he also won’t have a real pathway for playing time like Max did last season with their poor wing depth. It would take multiple backcourt injuries for JHS to get a shot in the NBA this season. Regardless, the G League is a good place for him to improve in some areas.
@sumdumfu5793
@sumdumfu5793 Жыл бұрын
@JSM24 JHS definitely has a hard path to getting playing time. He still has an opportunity to do well in practice and gain his teammates' respect. Making it hard for the rotational guys will only make the team better.

I thought bruh would be the best scorer from his draft class. I still think he can make waves in this team. He has the offensive gifts. He judt needs to work on his defense. He has the prototypical body to be a solid defender.

Reddish has the most to lose if he doesn't play well next season. The reason is that there are many better players in his position while the others like Jax, it's rare to find a big like Jax so many will take a chance on Jax more than Cam.

If reddish and Christie both prove they deserve consistent rotation minutes, they can trade taurean prince.
