I like this squad as constructed, the only thing is that I wish they gave Shroder the money that they gave to Vincent to keep Schroder and I wish we could have landed a solid big Center so that AD could play his coveted PF position, we'll see how AD fares against the bigs once again this season. The reason vando might start over rui is not cuz he is better. It’s for the fact that vandos value comes from guarding the other teams best player. If you bringing him off the bench u lose his entire value.

Only if Vando shadows the opposing teams best player for the ENTIRE GAME. Which means committing to playing Vando 40+ mins. Otherwise, if you're a sane coach you could put him in for bursts to pressure this player (25-30mins out of the 40...). Do we care AT ALL that this star player won't have to play defense since Vando is an easy cover? Do we also not care that the starters spacing goes out the window if Vando cant provide spacing... sacrificing offense of ALL LAKER STARTERS so slow down 1 opposing player!?! 🙀🙀🙀

I feel like Prince would be a better starter but then that takes away offensive firepower from the bench

Prince is kind of the hybrid option between Rui/Vando to where he’s a better perimeter defender than Rui but not as good compared to Vando. Though, he’s a better 3pt shooter than either of them. I could see him finishing games for them whenever Rui has an off night or Prince is simply hot from 3.

Vando starting sacrifices spacing for ALL Laker starters to slow down 1 opposing player. Nice.... or you could trust Rui a little on D, get into a great offensive flow (SPACING!!!). PLUS force that opposing star to GUARD (if they gaurding Vando they get to chill), and use Vando as a pit bull off the bench... a different look/increase in pressure on that opposing star to throw them off as the game goes on. (Vando should have 25-30mins of that 40mins on this opposing star)

they need to work the crap out of their centers to get those rebounds and 2nd chances, they had horrible 2nd chance at the rim which mainly cause the nuggets to have so many offensive re-plays.

Rui Is a true 3 just like Big Game worthy said. Rui should start It give our rotation true flexibility instead of having this narrative Vando starting makes no sense. After the playoff run

Rui is not anywhere close to being a “true 3” and that’s not a bad thing either. He’s more physically imposing than he is quick, which translates well to PF both offensively (and especially) defensively for him.

Agree - Rui at the 3 & Bron at the 4 causes problems, especially with Davis as a 5 that moves really well. Time to play big boy ball. 💯💯💯

@@JSM24I’m taking James worthy over what you saying. The only reason why considering Vanderbilt starting Is something based on DLo actually playing team defense.. nobody said he had to lock up but everybody else on the roaster can play defense besides DLo… rui at 3 and bron at 4 with better continuity, we should be trending in the right direction after the playoffs.. we got swept yet all 4 games were competitive. It comes to certain moments. Vanderbilt will be better for us this year

RUI is better off the bench. With LeBron and AD on the bench ha can get the green light and go ham offensively

I love Rui but Lakers have enough firepower in the starting lineup, what they need is a point-of-attack defender. Rui is a pretty good defender but one of his weakness defensively is that he can't keep up with quicker players and Vando can. For the sake of consistency I think Vando is a better starter. Having Rui, Vincent, Wood, and Prince as the second lineup will destroy most teams.
