King Ang Duong of Cambodia introduced Thai Khon to Cambodia around 200 years ago. He was raised and got educated in Bnagkok. Cambodia was ruled by Thailand (Siam) for almost 500 years years. That's why this country has a lot of things in common with Thailand.

And this dance is carved on Angkor temple for thoudsand years ago, wow at the time your grandpa was still in China, until your grandpa imigrated to Khmer empire land and start absorbing Khmer culture and mix with Khmer. Cambodia or Khmer is still poor recently and we just don't have money to advertise and restore our legacy kids 😂😂😂

Thai masks look more detailed and sophisticated. Thai dancers are always more smooth and skillful. Cambodian masks look like high school kid projects. Their movements are too stiff and nervous. Its so clear to see which one is the teacher and which one is the student :P

@@PutthiDara Khon was a classical opera played in Siam Royal Court for representing power and charisma of Siamese King since Ayuthaya to Rattanakosin period. As a colony of Siam for 431 years, Khmer princes must be sent to Siam Royal Court to be a hostage for ensuring loyalty from Khmer King. The Khmer princes stayed in Siam Royal Court since they were young. They accustomed to and appreciated khon in Siam Royal Court since the reign of King Rama I to King Rama IV. When the princes returned to Cambodia, he had Siam khon teachers accompany by him. This why the components of Cambodia lakol khol : costumes, performances, gestures, song, melody, music , musical instruments and etc.., are similar to Thai khon. However, Cambodia lakol khol can't imitate the whole components of Thai khon. The Ramayana sculptures at Angkor Vat wall were quite difference from Khmer Lakol Khol now a days. If Khmer claim they originated Khon why Khmer Lakol Khol components are quite difference from those sculptures at Angkor Vat but similar to Thai khon. Khmer learnt Khon, Rabam and Lakorn from Siam but they claim they are the origin. According to the archives "The Kingdom of Siam", (1687), written by Simon de La Loubere, the French Ambassador to Siam who came to Ayuthaya in the reign of King Narai, he explained the following Siam entertainments on the stage, "There were Khon, Lakorn and Rabum………" . In Wikipedia of Khmer Lakol Khol, Lakol Khol appeared in the reign of King Srisowat. (Who stayed in Siam Royal Court at Bangkok for 22 years in the reign of king Rama III and King RamaIV.) Khmer had no evidences to prove they had Lakol Khol troupe before that. The Indian style Ramayana sculptures at Angkor Wat was their old glory that were lost in the jungle for a hundred of years until Khmer had no idea about this ancient temple. Angkor Vat just discovered in the reign of King Rama IV and Cambodia was a colony of Siam then.

Hi, I'm from Frankfurt, Germany. I love muaythai so much. I heard news that Now Cambodia is claiming Muay Thai. and never invested by myself I can't believe I heard that. But me and my Thai friends traced back the history of Muay Thai and Khmer boxing, making me realize that Cambodia lies and wickedly jokes doing this. I myself have never known Cambodia. But this nation is such a shame.
@iROChakri Жыл бұрын
Actually Muay came to Southeast Asia from India. Every region had Muay, a rough primitive fighting style. However, its Thailand that modernized Muay to become a sport, and you guess it ... that sport name is Muay thai. Kun Khmer is just a Muay thai version of Cambodia. Tbh I cant even say its the Cambodian version when everything about Kun Khmer is just Muay thai.
Comparing Khmer and Thai culture is a bit like comparing (traditional) Chinese and Japanese culture. There are both interesting similarities and differences. And an outsider often can't see any difference.
Lakhon Khol in Cambodia they don't have poetry conversation like Thailand because they don't event know what definitely conversation between any major characteristic like Tossakan, Lord Vishnu or Sita.
Yes... You cam compare between Khon of Thailand and Lakhon khol of Cambodia. These scenes are the same to each other.
