I like how this distro is so transparant. It really turns me off when there's lines of code, flashing screens, and program text all over the place and here it just seems like you're in the same UI the whole time which is how it should be.

How do you get 64 games to run smoothly in Raspberry Pi 2 Lukka OS , because RetroPie seems to play them smother ? PSX games run almost perfect on Lukka, but not n64 . What can I do to fix that problem ?

Hi. In few words pros and cons of Lakka compared to RetroPie and Recalbox? The emulation quantity and quality differs ones from others? The menu usability it is better?

forgot about save states how do i get them to be assigned to a button. You probably did a video on this but I might need extra help. Thanks for the responses btw and good luck with moving
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
dplalowski I didn't do a vid on this yet but I have some handy text I can quickly copy and paste: What you need to do is go to this file for each emulator that you can in: /opt/retropie/configs/(emulator)/retroarch.cfg Now look for the following line, or add it if it's not there: input_save_state_btn = "nul" Change "nul" to your desired button on your gamepad, making sure to keep the quotes. (Use jstest to find button numbers like we did before). Some others you should set while there: input_load_state_btn = "nul" and these just in case: input_enable_hotkey_btn = "nul" input_exit_emulator_btn = "nul" input_menu_toggle_btn = "nul" Once again, if they don't exist add them. The hotkey and exit emulator button we already set up in our first retropie setup video, so you just copy what you did there, for each emulator, or don't add them at all. Now you can either use your new button to save and load OR go into the libretro menu (using your hotkey_btn and menu_toggle_btn) and simply select save state and load state! Good luck, let me know how you go.
@BK-hp8cj9 жыл бұрын
TechTipsta How do you do the config if you want two buttons to save/load? For instance 6+7 together would save rom state, 6+8 would load rom state. Is that just how we put it in there? input_save_state_btn = "6+7"; input_load_state_btn = "6+8" ?

Can you set up video filters for the emulators? Like, I like to play emulators with scanlines turned on. Can you do that in Lakka?
@theonetruemoe57449 жыл бұрын
Hey TechTipsta. Do you know if in Lakka, you can configure the buttons on the controller for each emulator? I am having a bit of difficulty on retropie mapping the controls for the different emulators, it kind of acts as though as if every emulator uses only one controller.
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
The One True Moe Hey man, I don't have Lakka set up right now but it would be similar since it uses retroarch as well (the same backend for emulator control). In retropie you have to edit the retroarch config file in each emulator folder to have a different key setup per emulator, eg. /configs/snes/retroarch.cfg the only problem is that they use the xbox control layout to define keys so you sort of have to guess what maps to where. Let me know if your still having trouble I can try help you out.

I would definitely give this a shot, I really enjoyed the PS3 XMB. How easy is it to copy over roms and such tho? simple like retropies windows interface?
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
For the roms you just put them on a USB drive and plug it in! It seems to automatically detect the games and put them under a system in the XMB, but as you can see on this video, sometimes it gets it wrong (but I believe this is due to the early stage of development). You can also copy them over the network. Make sure you check out their starter guide if you do go ahead here: www.lakka.tv/doc/Home/ and also remember that it is still in development, so you may not have all the features you want right now and end up coming back to RetroPie!

If you something better then pie3 or ondroid xu4, can this emulate n64 properly? Like goldeneye and perfect dark, even on splitscreen? I had troubles getting it to work even on my i7 770gtx
@qskint9 жыл бұрын
Do you know if the ODROID build will work on the XU3? It only states the C1. Looks nice though, hopefully they will implement metadata scraping.

qskint I am fairly certain it does not. Saw that exact question posted somewhere and the dev's responded that they did not have an XU3 yet so had/could not port it yet. Fingers crossed they get one soon as I definitely want this on my XU3 as well!

How much easier is it to set up a two player joystick on this than Retropie?

I tried out Lakka last night. I was having a problem with my network detecting my raspberry pi . So I decided to just puts some roms on a usb stick and Lakka detected it right after a reboot. Played a little bit of mega man x ran great. Me personally I like retropie's ui better and the ability to scrap and get the other meta data. Looks nicer and has more info on there. Also download OSMC on my raspberry pi 1 to see if I could put the pi 1 to good use. Seems to run pretty smooth. Sorry for being off topic messing around with a few different projects.
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
dplalowski no worries man good to hear how things went and your impressions. I saw a mention of network bugs so that's probably why. It is nice getting that metadata and I still prefer retropie as well at this stage, but it's probably not hard for these guys to implement something similar, I might suggest it or see if they have it planned. I am gonna have to try OSMC as well now, sounds awesome.

Interesting, will have to keep an eye on this one. I like how it has so much in the menus without a console. Currently though you recommend RetroPie 2.6 as your go to?
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
MichaelVash7886 yah the setup menu will be awesome in the finished product. At this stage a lot of that functionality is missing, so RetroPie 2.6 it is! (or RecalBox it is very similar)
@MichaelVash78869 жыл бұрын
TechTipsta Interesting. I hadn't come across Recallbox. Any major differences between it and Retropie? I am currently using the 3.0 beta since that's just what I have loaded. Mainly trying to get SNES and NES up and going. Retropie seems more popular, so not sure how well some of the info would translate to recallbox.
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
Fairly similar since they both use EmulationStation as a front end. Recal box nicely integrates Kodi out of the box, also has music based menus for each game system, it is actually quite nice, I haven't delved into setting it up so cannot comment on that aspect, but RetroPie definitely has the stronger community/support network.

I used this about a 3 weeks ago.I liked it but it was buggy as h377.I also tried Recal Box.Give it shot if you haven't seen it.It's basically a stripped down version of retropie.As for lakka I found it ran all the capcom games with ease.Getting the controller for mine to work took going into gui only.Oh yea Osmc is way way better than Kodi,but you can use the kodi skin.Recal's www.recalbox.com/ Osmc's osmc.tv/download/ Enjoy my friends!!!!!!
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
casey james recalbox is very cool but it is so similar to retropie I didn't want to do a vid on it. I was trying to decide whether to feature Lakka and in the end decided that if they do keep up with development, then this will probably be my choice over retropie, and also my recommendation for the more casual users. Lets just hope they move fast!
@CaseyJames81819 жыл бұрын
Yea I hope so too.I really like the interface on it.Reminds me of ps3.The osmc has a menu sorta like that as well.Well its gonna be a long one for me.My linux mint KDE machine I have downstairs is gonna get some windows 10 treatment today.Gotta see what all the fuss is about.I wanna get it on the pie.No previews for it yet in arm(Im not spending the time to Hack it)for the pie. So off to my Levoneo Desktop.It's got a I7 , 16 gig with Gigabyte 7950 card.I think it should handle it!I have Xp black on it right now.I don't use it for much.

Oh man let me know how it goes. I am sooooooo excited for win 10 but I am gonna wait, because I know if I try it now, I will be even more excited and the wait will be even longer! It feels just like the old days when I was running XP and waiting for win 7 to come out, that turned out to be worth the wait so hopefully they have done it again, sure seems like it.

Yea ,lets hope it's not like windows hate I mean eight.I was really disappointed in Microsoft with that blemish.It's installing as we speak.I have a about 6 extra sata drives just laying around.I was gonna just install but then I remembered what happen when I did this with eight.I got the black screen of death.That's when the desktop and everything ghost on ya when it boots up.Only the task manager would come up.I liked to never have fixed it.I be sure to letcha know what I see.It's still just a preview though!

So I know what I will be doing tonight. When am I suppose to sleep? Did you ever think about the consequences of uploading your videos?. I tried out Piplay and its just not as developed as Retropie is at the moment. I am having trouble with outputting the emulators at my tvs resoultions witch is 1920 x 1080. I go into the configuration setup by hittting x or m on my keyboard and changing the setting there but it still isn't filling up my screen(I have black bars showing up on the edges of my screen. Im using retropie 3.0 beta if that helps.
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын
haha dplalowski so many fun things to try! But yup, lakka is still in the early stages and only worth loading on if you are curious, but sounds like you are! As for your TV problem, sounds like you didn't set overscan properly? See here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4TShYSehtaNmqs and try both options, whether you enable or disable it depends on the TV/Monitor!

casey james looks like they are still in heavy development, how does it run at the moment? Found many bugs or issues or is it usable day to day?
@CaseyJames81819 жыл бұрын
I have had it for about 3 or four weeks now and the only bug I have had is if you use the mouse it have very very little lag.{I use yatzee so not for Me!}I use it everyday at least 3-4 hours a day, weekend alot.It's only crashed one time and it didn't effect anything.It was from forcing Navi to play something.If you get it don't use the alpha or beta , use the I think its called rc,or rt version. I was blown away by the options offered in the interface and the speed.I have to say it's been pretty stable.
@TechTipsta9 жыл бұрын

If you program one boot sd card 2gigwhat I have in ..Use it as a universal.I boot the same sd card (I leave it in my Pi} every time and use either a card reader or flash drive and boot from the usb port .I promise it works!
@CaseyJames81819 жыл бұрын
You remember the forum I pointed you to.Set up one card and boot osmc,kodi media , from the same card.And all the retro games {lakka and retropie] use another card, just to be safe because media emulators and game emulators can boot from the same card but I have had problems crossing them@!
@franciscogonzalez91659 жыл бұрын
I'd rather stick to RetroPie because I just love the look of Emulationstation. Lakka looks powerful and has some options that I wish RetroPie had, but the menu looks so sterile.
