I’ve had almost every Lākland Model there is, mostly US versions. The Scheff was/is my favorite, even though I truly love them all! After selling my US Scheff to help fund an engagement ring purchase, I started trying to talk Lākland into doing another run of Skyline Scheffs. I have a few other Scheff owners that also want this to happen. Please, help me apply pressure!! We need at least another run of 30 of these so more folks can experience the tones!

Such a great video - agreed with your points on Lakland Skyline basses during that era. Such high quality, well-constructed and finished instruments. All of the little details during that time especially were so cool. I briefly owned a Skyline DJ with Aero pickups that I regrettably let go. The neck, the balance of the body, the weight, and the tone... oh my. Not sure what happened with Lakland but know that Dan is doing his own thing now. Great video as usual, such a killer channel 🤘

LIPSTICKS! Love the fat crispy sound...I need to feel what a Lakland neck is like someday. Gold is also a classic color and it's well applied here. Great looking instrument. The starfield Cabriolet is still hanging out....languishing in JP...Starfield was a short run Hoshino at FGN collab with a US designer that spawned both j.custom and LACS shops, with parts being made in Japan and assembly/test spread between the US and JP location, which would become respectively Ibanez LACS and j.custom operations (which are still delivering instruments as we speak). www.ishibashi-music.jp/category/select/pid/19129/language/en/currency/USD It is "CBB500" of Starfield which produces a design full of American taste and a simple yet high quality guitar / bass. It is one of the unique looks equipped with two pickups, which are commonly known as lipsticks. Maple neck in alder body, rosewood fingerboard and adopted a 34-inch scale while orthodox specifications. You can enjoy the sound with a straight back obediently. The control has a simple structure of each volume and tone. Because the string space is wide, it is a model that is easy to play for bassists of orthodox style regardless of finger play / pick play. There is a crack of the paint and the crack of the paint in the body top, and the feeling of use is seen, but the fret remains enough, and there is no problem in the play condition. Question: you seem to consider full cut as the default position. Shouldn't it be center (on a boost/cut pre); neither cut nor boosted?
@LowEndLobster4 жыл бұрын
Great question! Depends on the bass for me when I'm just playing. However, for my vids I usually give at least some examples of "center", but always start exploring the preamp from the ground up. We always end up back at center, but I like to explore the individual control voicings before mixing them all up.
@flipper2gv4 жыл бұрын
@@LowEndLobster That's precisely my point. From my point of view, exploring the preamp from the ground up would be to start in the middle on everything and then explore the cut and then the boost on each bands. I think middle is supposed to be the more "neutral" position where as full cut usually means an active effect of the preamp on the frequency response of the bass (like actively reducing the bass). That's just my opinion and I love your videos anyway.
