As a lala player Im so grateful I never gone through this. Its actually disturbing people do this. The most I got are jokes that someone will cook and eat me, or that Im a popoto. I just love being a Lala because we are so cute! One thing about being a lala is that we probably have the biggest sense of community. I love how lalas are automatic friends within one another 💕

Forever lalafell here, it’s true lalafell aren’t actually children despite our appearance, we do enjoy playing into the joke though, one of my favorite jokes is when I make a mistake in high end content is I look no older than 7 I don’t know any better. I get laughs every time. That part of the community that can’t figure out that being a lalafell main doesn’t mean you’re a weirdo need to get their head out of their ass.

The thing is that YoshiP has cleared up that Lalas are not children; more like just a race of tiny people, and some have difficulty separating those two. But it's part of Lala nature to be playfully annoying, and I mean, once you're a Lala you can't resist the urge to be that.

I'm a lala main, Sometimes i go to au ra for glam, but started as a lala, and man oh man, so much hate toward lalas. Getting called a kid, getting called untrustworthy just for *being* a lala because of the msq, just people blinding hating me just cuz im a lala, getting punted all the time. the list could go on for a while. Lalas, Roes and Hroths generally stick together cuz we get bullied/outcasted the most, I met some of my closest friends i have on 14 and in general right now, and they were either a lala, or a Roe

90% of the game is pervy men playing catgirls, viera or au ra. One of the main reasons I switched to lala, is when I was a tall fem race I got a lot of creeps sending me tells who want to try get a lesbian waifu on the game. I don't have that happen when I play lala, so thats 1 reason I stayed lala. But I will continue to stay lala because its funny to be lala, lalas are cool, and they are adorable.

Once I used to AFKing as my lala alt. And some lala girl there just asked me to join her FC, she seemed to be really excited to see another lalafell here. Also her search comment is something like, she wants to give a good care to others lalafells. So I assumed that she's just a super nice person who wants to make a new friend that playing the same race as her? After I watched this, I cried, realized how many lala players have to get through and how much it means to found someone that share the common things with them and accept them. Thank you for sharing the story I glad that they found their place in the end.

I play a lalafell, can honestly say I've never experienced any negativity towards playing one. For me its the eyes of the Dunesfolk lalas. I think they're really pretty and show the eye colors much more than other races. I do flip-flop though from time to time to Au Ra because some glams just look better on the taller races. But I always come back to Lala.

Sadly I've had it. The FC I was in before constantly said how much they hated them. A friend of my partner says they're creepy and people who dress them up in "sexy" glams are pedos... I have a lala archer (working towards bard) Going by the name Spuddy Holly and I have only gotten compliments mostly for the name. But I have seen some of the sentiment of dislike towards lala in passing on other races I have played so I know it happens just never had it directed towards me yet.

I would have left that fc day 1. And as a lala player I understand so much. I have felt nothing but being alone in the game and have basically just done solo roulette, pvp, and crafting at this point. I have made more enemies than friends to the point I'm surprised I haven't been banned because I speak my mind and don't take crap like this poor guy did. I'm probably going to dynamis because I haven't found a good home on aether as everyone is already established. I always thought it was me but I guess being a lalafell is a big part of the isolation.

I love playing as the little cute races because they tend to have the most fun. I have never faced discrimination, maybe I was lucky but even in crowded areas like Limsa, its the little Lalafell that have the most fun.

On both the EU data centres we have Discords for the Lala Community, were we plan Lala only: raids, maps, FATEs, and have monthly parades. We can get some serious hate during the parades - nothing like trying to get a screenshot of 80+ people when there are Tallies (tall races) with flamethrowers getting in the shot; I learnt how many sprouts didn't know how to turn off other people's weapon effects so they could get their own screenshots without the flames. But it's so fun running around dressed as a tiny Chocobo, and /panic-ing during "Slice is Right" in the Golden Saucer ;) It does wear on your sometimes though, but I've tried taller characters and I don't like their run animations/emotes - and I'm friggin cute as a Lala!

Still sit close enough to telegraphs from healers to sweat though lol. I've noticed the discourse over Dragoons has become less negative thanks to them making the job have less time in animation locks.

Interesting how people comment so much about NSFW. I sensed the OP tried to avoid mention it, like when he said "the things they actually wanted to do wouldn't have the same impact playing as that race". It seems to me that the group he joined was a bunch of horny people. They were "raiding" an ERP venue after all. Here's me theorizing... Maybe they Fantasia'd and stopped talking to lalas and block them to be horny without worrying about it. I play as male Miqo'te and I'm very familiar with the ERP scene... we're the main target race, especially females. In some places, even having lala friends is reason enough to be rejected as a client, so I'm guessing this group planned to be accepted anywhere by not having lala connections and being rude to them so other horny people wouldn't question them. I know of ERP enjoyers celebrating lala-phobia, and even mod the game to make them invisible or turn them into literal potatoes. Once I watched a video of a Vtuber boy that plays lalafell talking about roleplaying as that race, having a canon life in the game. He was ranting about how he wanted to have a drink in a bar just to get kicked out for the sole reason of being a lalafell, but eventually accepting that behavior because he's treated the same way IRL. He claims to look very young and also sounds kinda young. This guy must be a dwarf IRL or a late bloomer... I know there's college guys out there that look 13. And having to live with that appearance would've made him accept how people treat him in game. A lot of people play FFXIV with their characters being a reflection of themselves. The OP might be a very young looking man too, therefore accepting the behavior of his first FC. I thought it was weird he spent around 3-4 days with that FC after getting his pictures deleted on the very first day of being recruited.

It's probably the biggest problem the game has, players snooping around and caring more about what others do than enjoying the game. It is really crazy how toxic the community gets when it comes to Elezen, Lalafell and Hrothgar.

(RPers, yknow...) Hrothgars already got a bad rap because they're mostly played by furries and a lot of furries tend to be gay. I was heavily into furry art myself but now I just like the idea of furry but separated myself from the community. Wasn't my cup of tea anymore. Anyway, that's why I keep distance outside of duty finders. At first I didn't like that they went with another cat race but I made one look really cool and loved my character.

Racism is a human thing. It's part of human history and even the history of Eorzea and the universe in FFXIV lol. I find "beast tribes" a bit distasteful sometimes because it implies they are like, lower and lesser races, with a weak control of our language (we never bother to learn theirs) and some kind of tribal existence that no authority seeks to enrich - only made better by the gracious charity from the WoL. Because of how different fantasy races can be, the extreme differences between races seems to spark MORE racism! We are such an odd species.

You see children with bikinis on beaches all the time. It's not about them wearing; it's about how you perceive it. I compare to children because in the regio dc I am from lalafell is extremely beloved race. Not because they are evil or potatoes but people see them as 'childlike', 'innocent', 'cute', so it is treated accordingly. Yes, it means you can be treated as if you are a kid, i.e., if you wipe you are more likely to be forgiven (I change to lala during prog for this reason, shh) but on serious note; another reason I compared, if this was such a 'wrong' thing, they would never allow bikini-like glam for all races (summer event) I see no other reason why they wouldn't allow lalafell 'to show legs'. It is one thing to wear in-game items, it is another to use mod for 'revealing bodyparts' is my opinion. However, I mean the extreme...... those who think lalafells shouldn't wear reveal clothes, have perverted horrible minds, they can go to jail for all I care with the real offenders. Because as lala during events and progs, I don't see how shorts/short sleeves are 'too revealing' it helps that lalafell don't have very... complimentory legs, they are cone shaped ww I have a alt character on NA datacenter and unfortunately I am not allowed to be a lalafell.... :(

As a lalafell player I can safely say that there's a significant amount players who are genuinely discriminate against lalafells unashamedly for no reason whatsoever racist. It's not funny in any means and you'd wish people would think of the person behind the lalafell and not be racist. It's always the same "joke" of "Lalafells are so puntable" or how "lalafells are food" or "Lalafells are demons" or something in that vein and being dehumanized very often, pointing at characters like Teledgi Adeledgi or Lolorito Nanarito or Mhach. You never hear other races being discriminated against nearly as much as you do lalafells and even when people say it's not funny and to stop it people persist because it's funny for them.

I experienced the Lala community on Light as very sweet and friendly. Around 8 people in our FC went lala for like a month together and we had so much fun hanging out as a group in towns or the gold saucer. Most people were very nice to us, sat down and hung out with us. Even the Roe that we "harrassed" in the Gold Saucer by jumping through his ring, who pretended to be annoyed with us, invited us all to his wedding :D It was such a fun time and now I stocked up on fantasia to go to Lala once in a while. But, there were also the Lala haters.. One newer FC member left us, because she was annoyed with us. Fun fact she joined the Ring-Roes FC and I imagine she was pretty salty about how much all the other guests loved us :P Then there was also someone chasing us with a flamethrower in Gridania.. but the worst I personally had was some players telling me and my boyfriend, we would be a waste of a coffin.. Well overall I really enjoy playing as a lala and I'm looking forward to go back again. Also whenever a lala fantasias every other lala they know gets so sad :O I had to tell so many people, don't worry I will go back sometime again :)

Being a lalafell is certainly an experience. You get more attention, both positive and negative. Luckily more of the former. It is so nice to have people want to pet you, think you're adorable, enjoy having you as their small tank. It's really great. But the negative attention is just... vile. I can imagine Hrothgars get it just as bad or worse. A catgirl being called generic and such might be insulting but it's easy to ignore. The lalafell hate gets really extreme and hurtful. It also used to be a lot worse, when the game was newer. Also when the WoW influx happened a lot of the people from that were jerks who needed to be filtered out. It was rough sometimes. Fortunately now I'm treated pretty well, but it took a while to get there. Both more general lalafell acceptance, and also I run a paladin that encourages people a lot. I'm nice to other players, especially sprouts, and they are nice to me in return.

I dislike the Lalafell race but it's mere Aesthetically. The people who discriminate like the weirdo's in this video are insane. I hope you come back to playing as a Lalafell and enjoy the game like you want to play!

My first character made since coming back to the game over 3 years ago was originally a Lala. I had fun playing him because he was just a tiny powerhouse (I tanked with him a lot) and I found that hilarious. Yes, Lala discrimination is real and it's brutal. A lot of people wouldn't even take me seriously in the game or even look in my direction to talk to and or dick around with because I was Lala. That all changed when I fantasia'd him into a brooding, tall, dark Au'ra. Everyone was up my ass after that. Sometimes, I regret letting other people dictate how I felt about my own character, but I came to love him as an Au'ra too, and even played into his darker aesthetic and nature in RPs, so I made it work in the end. People can just be cruel to shorter races. It doesn't help that I'm also really short irl too.

Im a lalafell player and the reason i picked it is because i love being small and cute. im a fairly tall and large male irl and ive never been happy about my height despite people always saying i should be grateful. So the fact that i can be a tiny little dude a short king if you will makes me so happy.

Whenever I clear raids, trials or dungeons and there's lalafells that still stay I always make sure to give all of them headpats, its so cute when they surround you and get all excited, I even have "Lalafells protector" written on my adventurer's plate! (not that they need protection since lalafells are absolute menaces when it comes to fighting, ESPECIALLY BLM Lalafells)

/furious I love them and will never play any other race. I don't get harassed or anything but I do tire of Lala jokes and such in my fc, rare as they are. Recently during a normal raid I got rezzed last during a death wave even though I'm smn and could help rez others, makes me wonder... "We should rise up!" Just about the only joke that I can appreciate.

So... I have got so many tells, discord dms about this video and I was gonna ignore but ima say this and just walk away from it because I really don't care. I use to own a Nightclub on aether called The Velvet Room Nightclub. there was another Nightclub at its time maybe 2 years ago named The House of Illos on aether, tho they supported Lala NSFW stuff i didn't at the time. Two years after a FC Member and staff asked was it ok to take lala Clients and I said I don't care. I don't like lalas myself so it doesn't bother me *(BTW for anyone that knows Kimora aka me know I like vieras so eh!)* Anyways, we then made it where we accept lala NSFW clients and it was a choose by people if thats what they wanted.. it didn't seem like an issue until one night a guy name Hye Chan asked to post lala NSFW Pictures in my discord *(knowing what I know know I regret doing so but I dont regret sticking up for lala discrimination.)* I asked hye place Pictures with a disclaimer and under spoiler so no one will click so for those who clicked on said Pictures we kinda know they were curious lmao Anyways I made an announcement about the situation and thought it was resolved until I woke up to countless of dms, friends had removed me from discords, linkshells, many even spread that I was a Pedophile which for those who know me know I am definitely noooo pedo hahahaha So I got hate for not supporting lala NSFW, but for non discrimination in the Roleplay community.. its a touchy subject I get it.. but at the end of the day if people wanna do that shit go for it idc because I don't do it myself.. the level of hate, doxxing, Rumors spread and even harassment was just enough so decided to get someone to troll the people who harass me. Used to play a lala, changed to a huer after being treated like shit for months. I did it cause I'm generally a shorter person IRL and have a thing for cuter looking stuff in my fiction. Somehow that apparently makes me childish at best or a pedo at worst when I've never even done anything to even come close to insinuating either.

As someone who doesn't really like Lalas, I also understand these are real people behind the avatars and I also don't go out of my way to treat them like crap, I still treat them with the same respect and kindness that I show the other races. There's no excuse for randomly being a jerk to someone for no reason. It's one thing if you run into someone's ERP that sounds like they are acting out a CP fantasy, by which my advice would be to just block them and move on. (I feel like it's unreportable because there's no real evidence that anyone there is underage) But just because you don't necessarily like the race because they literally look like toddlers still isn't a good enough reason to be rude towards them or treat them like crap. However on the other hand, if you're playing a race that looks like a child, sounds like a child, don't be shocked when people treat you like one. 😅 I just don't think people should go out of their way to be rude about it and just leave Lalas alone, there's no need to start unnecessary drama or hate towards some random Lala just because you don't like the race they are playing, it's such childish behavior and makes them look like the child instead. lol

I play as a Lala. On Aether. There is an active group that promotes Lala hate. I have gotten the “you would have earned my comm, but you are a Lala” at the end of dungeons. On the flip side, I have had so many fun interactions with other random Lalas. 3 Lalas in a party with one talla (any other race), it becomes a rp school trip. Always. The Lala hate I’ve gotten, pales in comparison to the head pats and love, and random RP that happens. As a sprout in Heavensward, running around in Ishgard, a Cat Boy patted me on the head, and gave me 100,000 Gil, 50 glamor prisms, and a that cute bunny minion. (This was in the patch cycle between HW and StB). And then teleported away as I was attempting to thank him! I did join a Lala only FC, but it is mostly dead now. Just a few friends left, which have become IRL friends, so it’s tough to leave… even if I do wish I could find a more active FC.

I've been through this a few times over my time in game. I used to always go for Miqo but eventually every character ends up a Lala. There's something about the spontaneity of lala that binds us together. We know we're cringe sometimes, we can be annoying too (often intentionally) but I much prefer laying lala to being any other race. i have streamer friends and an occasional feature of I'm around at the time is hiding doing the Lala /surprise, then running away when they spot me. I've met people who legitimately hate lalas, but also those who meme. my entire fc and many friends are lalafell and its always a blast, where as other races i honestly feel more awkward approaching other players of my race. i never feel that as a lala. even as a fun loving gremlin lala from limsa

I am seeing this a year later, I have been in this game since Closed Beta , i am also a legacy player, and the bias against lalafel has always existed. Part is because there are some players who have sexualized their character behaviors, there are some who are just abusive, but there are people who play on lalafel that are very kind and welcoming.

I was in an FC that constantly made discriminatory lalafell jokes and asking me every single day when i would fantasia to miqo or aura, so i can become part of the cool kids club. These kind of people just make me angry. To me its just another dwarfen race like any other game. I mean Shadowbringers literally explains the dwarf race. I too have been told that im a pedo for playing a lalafell and all my "tall" friends are pedos too for being my friend. Ive literally met people that have said to my "tall" friends they will not interact or talk to me because I play lalafell and that makes me weird so they dont want to associate with me. I feel like ppl like that are racist IRL too. The amount of drama i experienced just for being a lala when all i want to do is enjoy the game and have some laughs. Some days its really making me wonder why Im even playing. Ive lost a majority of the friends i made in this game for not wanting to change into a different race.

I've never felt discriminated for being a lalafell. The only discrepancy I've experienced was being given "lala-only" sections at clubs, usually at balconies looking down at everyone else. 😂

I always thought of them shortstacks like goblins and dwarves, or something. Just cause smol=child? That i find objectively fool hardy. If anything they are quite scary in a way. Jump high, carry big weaponary and cast magic at the same level as the other tall races. If a little bratty lalafell marauder comes at you with an axe that then causes larges slashes and cleave like saws to form...i would be scared out of my mind. I made a lalafell and invited to a lalafell dominated FC and discord group. They off course use other races but they have rules to not make fun of those who are into lalafells one way or another. If anything some admit catching the feels for lalafells but me or the other members don't cast a disgusting glance at them. Ive seen far worse degenerate stuff that like shortstacks is literally for me the least awkward thing. 0:22

I know multiple Hrothgar who have nothing to do with Furries. I also know several Lalas who are decently nice people. I am a bit sad to say that the rude, annoying, and try-hard Lalas have made themselves a very vocal lot from what I've seen within the game. I've been in groups and voice chats with more than my fair share of Lala players who come right out and say that they love being a Lala so they can treat people like shit without any blowback, claiming it's a free pass since people will defend even the most obnoxious Lalas from this kind of discrimination just because they're cute. (and this is fairly true from my experiences, yours may vary though.)

Lala player here. I get SO tired of the jokes, the rude comments and assumptions. Thankfully, while I personally haven't gotten any hate personally, I did have an instance where I was pretty much ignored in a venue being the only Lalafell in there lol I wish we didn't get this dedicated hate from some players. I won't fantasia to a diff race bc I like and relate to Lalas (mistaken for a child, is actually an adult) the most, but sometimes it's more than a little frustrating seeing our issues downplayed bc we play as the gnome race.

Lalafell discrimination is true and real! With many new players who are streaming their MSQ journey, Lalafells are very often discriminated from the chat and streamers itself. Especially at the time and after that, when Asmongold streamed his FFXIV journey, discrimination against Lalafell went on a high. Many negative comments in free companies, that i was in the last 4 years, sometimes in different groups for Alliance Raids, ex Trial or savage raids and some community Discords. In one of the free companies i was, players who were Lalafells got negative comments, so they either left or used fantasia to change it. This free company added the rank poop and gave them to Lalafell players. I left of course.

Iv had mixed experiences as a lalafell main. Iv had many good times but iv also had some bad ones. For awhile i thought about changing my race in game but when i tested out creating new character i never really loved anything like my lala. It is annoying when people go ew children when i'm almost in my 30's. Worse iv had close friends of mine get called a p word for hugging or doting my lala. When again we are both almost 30.

It's infrequent and if people are going to be mean because they feel some type of way about MY choice of race in a video game I can blacklist and move on. I think being smol is fun! Also consider this, every Lalafell that completed Endwalker beat up Zenos bare handed so y'all tall people aren't safe up there. Im joking im a gentle potato :)

Heres the problem, i've played games like this in the past where both gnomes/childlike races are a thing. FFXIV has a strong obsession with sexualizing every single thing, and so they combat this by pretending that players who play these races are pedophiles. So anyone caught using mods are automatically under this umbrella of invisible community crimes. FF seems to be the only game i've seen where sex overwrites the gameplay. Players don't see a hardcore raider or casual player having fun. They see possible ERP/Pedo You could be a brand new player underage experiencing your first time playing a MMORPG and FC companies and others will tell you to swap races. This player base i hate to say it, is toxic and far to worried about sex then gameplay. A lot of players and lalafels are scared to stay lalafel because of the branding thats associated with that based, on community backlash. It sucks and its a product of community lust and sensitivity rather then the player. Like i've said this is the only game i've seen such strong resentment to a in game race and its also disruptive because other players will outright refuse to play with you sometimes or invite you to things. We play lalafel either because its fun or comes from a place of fuzziness inside, not a place of perversion. it doesn't bother me anymore but i know when i first started the game I did hate players who treated lalafel players like this at some point you just block everyone and focus on what you enjoy playing. Unfortunately the community is very closed minded and horny and weird. I'm sure there are lalafel players that do.. do that but i dont associate with them and it doesnt affect my gameplay nor do i even hear about them often.

Yup I've met plenty of players that were discriminatory towards Lalas. More in the older days, than the new days. I think now with data center travel being added, an FC is not as much of a social center as it used to be. For me in 1.0 and ARR it was because pf and raid finder did not exist. The closest thing people did back then, and still do is linkshells (which is originally from ff11). I tend to avoid the massive FC's who are in it just for the rankings, and the social clout. Smaller ones always tend to be closer knit, and the way to go imo. Also the bigger the fc, the more likely you'll run into a member you won't get along with..and that become extremely annoying inside of a guild setting (I've been there many times lol).

Played a lalafell for my first year. But fantasia'd out of it later. I'm 35, so a lot of the stuff I got was accusations of being a p*do and stuff like that. I just like playing shorter races. I've played goblin, gnome, and vulpera over on WoW. Playing smaller races is just easier for me. You can see more of the screen and such. But I got tired of the harassment and went as far from lala as I could, now playing a roe. It's kinda like how I stopped playing Dragoon. I was having fun with the class and all but then came the jokes about how I'm just there to die and that I'm playing a useless job that just 'tanks the floor'. Got kicked out of a few parties for being a dragoon. Got whispers telling me how I was playing a shit job and should go unalive myself. So I gave up, and now I primarily play Summoner and Red Mage. Part of me wants to go back to Dragoon, but then I get memories of the treatment I received while playing one and decide against it. And it's weird when you encounter shit like that, because the vast majority of my playtime since 2021 has been very positive and I've mostly felt welcomed in FFXIV. It's the type of behavior I expect in League of Legends or World of Warcraft, so it's always jarring running into it in FFXIV.

Lalafell player here. I left a roleplay-focused FC because a member was found out to have engaged in ERP with a lalafell player. The FC was called The Underdark, though I think they go by a different name now. They were a yakuza-themed FC and were, by their own admission, "morally ambiguous." I'll just say this: I have no issue with what people do behind closed doors. You want to do ERP as a lalafell player or whatever, knock yourself out. Just make sure you both consent to it and aren't bothering anyone else. That's... pretty much how I feel about ERP in general. Back to the FC. I remember reaching out the dude who was fired and he showed me screenshots of the conversation he'd had with FC admin. The word "pedophile" was thrown around... A LOT. Honestly, I was really taken aback by this. I didn't like the idea that just because you're a lalafell, you simply aren't allowed to engage in ERP. I felt indignant, especially when there were members of other races who were clearly frequenting private rooms to have some "ERP fun." So I left. /shrug Do I miss that FC? Sometimes, yeah. The quality of the roleplay was very good and we had weekly events. It was fun, but that one particular restriction really bothered me, and this was exacerbated by the way that one member had been treated.
