like, the guy he likes just broke up with someone, as far as the mc is concerned he is just taking advantage of a vulnerable moment and it's the first time he has liked someone, so i kinda get him running

lol I keep seeing people so confused/taken aback by the insane pacing and I just want to say that maybe it's because despite the anime being called "Twilight Out of Focus" and all the marketing and stuff being very Hisashi/Mao-centric this adaptation should be viewed more like an anthology that will feature three couples and that we're right in the middle of the first one. They will most likely then take the backseat and give way to Ichikawa and his love story and then to two other characters that have yet to feature more prominently. Soooooo, this is not solely a TOoF adaptation but a Midorigaoka Cinema Club one that spans four different mangas (one for each couple and one that has many HisaMao cute extras + the prologue to Ichikawa's story). Actually, this saga is still ongoing with two other HisaMao releases and I think an Ichikawa sequel recently announced (These three are Japan only so far). So yeah, maybe this will help some to like, have an idea of what to expect for the remaining 10 episodes 😉 Love your videos btw, you're so cute!!! 💖

9:34 almost everyone who watched bananafish, including me, feels the same especially Hisashi has the same voice actor as Ash. When they announced the key visual of the anime, I thought for a second it was a Bananafish OVA or something especially here in Japan, Bananafish is still active where they hold an annual collaboration cafe every December. Even the opening song of Tasogare outfocus is so BF coded where Hisashi is standing with Mao on a sunset. It feels like seeing ash and eiji in another universe in a good way without getting super depressed 😊

This is just like in the manga, haha. Everything was so fast pace - I straight up facepalmed when Mao confessed😅

I also read the manga. And I read it online on a website and the way it went was that their main story was a separate like book. But there was more to the manga itself because there was like a spin-off series with a side couple that I think they’re going to introduce in the anime. So I think they’re like combining all those other mangas for the anime. I totally thought it was over too until I saw the authors other works and they made a different manga. That was part of the same story and world as twilight out of focus.

You said something towards the beginning about it feeling short. The manga is 3 volumes. It's got kind of a Given thing where it focuses on different couples. This anime is already 2/3 of the way through the first volume! It is getting through so much material really fast. At this point, I think they might go through all three. Either way, can't wait for the next episode.

Volume 4 is out now and Volume 5 is due in September. There was a Volume 6 released in Japan, May of this year. We'll probably get it sometime next year

I'm impressed at how they're keeping true to the manga scene by scene. It's so identical it's crazy. Now, I wonder how they would go around with the R18+ scenes for this and the other two books and two couples. Deen Digital is doing a relatively great job so far. The pace could definitely be jarring but the faster the pace runs, the more possibilities for angst lmao (self-indulgent angst enjoyer right here) I think you completed the first book with Mao & Hisashi but didn't continue with the other two books, TOF 2: Afterimages in Slow Motion and TOF 4: The Evening Monologues (which would probs be included in this anime)

Will you consider watching The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant used to be arch enemies? The episodes are only 12 minutes long and it seems like something you might enjoy 😊

i totally understand. it could be annoying sometimes when people keeps comparing character a to character b but hisashi is just soooo ash coded. 🥲

The first manga is done and you probably read the whole thing. There are two sequels/spinoffs (and two other couples) but they each have their own volumes and titles, so it's not obvious that the story keeps going if you only read the first one. I think you'll find plenty of stuff to speculate about. I'm wondering if they'll blend them all together with Otomo and Mao as the central characters or really shift the focus as the season goes on. The film club ties them all together.

I'm currently reading the manga. I have four volumes, and there's a fifth volume due to drop in September this year. I've read the first three volumes and enjoyed the story and artwork.

Tbh yall I wasn't really gagging since episode 1 and it seems like this episode sets the precedent for the rest of the series so I'm just gonna drop it like I did tadaima okaeri. BL anime is already scarce as it is and I feel like there should be more variety but with better writing
