Hey Cammy, great video. Don’t worry if you miss a day or two of uploading, you and your sheep are MUCH more important than us viewers. Yes we LOVE ❤️ the vlogs but really, sheep first. Great job with the hung lamb and hopefully the mama sheep will accept the other lamb. Despite all the fluids you put on it she did seem to recognise another smell on it. Fingers crossed 🤞! CONGRATULATIONS by the way on your and Lizzy’s little ‘lamb!’ So happy for you both. I also didn’t know about the the cross transfer of bacteria, interstellar things we learn on your blog. Anyway, enough of my words; except I agree about the the Valais cross twins. I thought they were also for meat so was interested in your just for fun comment. Take care and keep learning, life is rarely perfect! 😀😉

OK, here I am because Aaron Lavoy told me to go here. I'm so glad he did! I'm 69 years old now and have joined the ranks of the old people who shake their heads and cluck about how they wish they still had your energy, though ; ) Enjoy it, man! It is such a treasure and you are applying it so well. I get into arguments with people all the time over which profession is the most essential and I still maintain farming is still number one. All we'd have to do is try to get by without you valiant people in agriculture doing what you do for maybe 6 weeks to feel that truth. I love you all. I hit subscribe right away! I hope you and Aaron tie in a dead heat!

Wet adoption we call it now .. trying properly for the first time this year .. we grab lambing singles - shearlings mainly - break the water bag into a bucket, Chuck in a Cade lamb, lamb the single and squeeze the juices over the Cade + give it a proper bath - all out of sight of the ewe - then introduce them both at the same time, the real lamb flopped on top of the Cade .. two weeks in 100% success rate so far - think I’ve done 5 today alone .. we don’t tie the legs as the Cade tends to be quite dazed after the bath and being flopped on .. amazing to be this far into lambing and have no Cade pen + no triples out in the field .. we can’t quite believe it 😀
@wendyrowland77873 жыл бұрын
I used to hobble the pet lamb so that the newborn gets enough colostrum as the introduced lamb may take it all. Otherwise did the same. I had a camera trained on the singles pen to make ir easier to manage the deception.
@andyp69133 жыл бұрын
@@wendyrowland7787 yep .. the Cade taking all the colostrum is the issue .. we watch them quite carefully and haven’t seen this to be the case yet but it’s definitely something we bearing in mind .. we use cades that have been fed and like I said they are quite dazed for a few hours .. fingers crossed the master plan doesn’t come crashing down in a few weeks 😫thanks 👍👍

Cammy at full blast 🤣🤣🤣. Thinking about the consequences if things had gone wrong 🤕. Who is the savior then for the distressed lambs 🤔. The gimmer with the giant lamb, beautiful deliverance. Sometimes the mother-lamb bond is gone for a while due to the heavy delivery / stress. For a good assumption, you can put some amniotic fluid in the sheep's mouth, always works. Beautiful lambs, cross Walliser schwarznase / Jacob sheep. How many horns do you think you will get on that 😁. Do not let go of a sheep that has been lying on its back for a while because of the descent of the intestines. Adoption method with the plastic bag 👍. PS. maybe something for you, a camper 🚙 for the lambing time, fully equipped.
@TheSheepGame3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Remco, aye it does sometimes take a little while for the mother to love her lamb if she has had a stressful lambing. Mmmm not sure about the horns yet I imagine they will have something considering both mum and dad do.
