ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZbin and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

Cammy - I have a little request. My favorite part of Lambing is that murmuring noise the ewe makes over her lambs. It just makes me happy. Would love to have a bit of that in a vlog. or even let us enjoy the sound of the birds and the sheep. It's not often I'm happy to see ads on a video, but I'm very glad that this one didn't get demonetized.

Just received my “Some Buzz” hoodie great quality and sizing . I think you should create weekly some buzz Mac’s for the wee lambs . On a more serious note the weather has just been appalling for lambing season. It breaks my heart watching wee lambs in the fields in the torrential rain that we have had recently. Let’s hope that we get some decent weather soon and that lambing hasn’t been too soul destroying for you 🐑

In June 2000... Glencoe when a very large sheep high up to my left on a cliff out of my view lept over the bonnet of my car onto the roadway of oncoming traffic and off into the green valley. No one was hurt.🙏 For many years after driving all of Scotland and the Isles, as well as other countries with free range, I was always on the alert. In 2022 I acquired a very large😊 whitetail deer stag as a bonnet ornament late at night near Aberdeen....Maryland, USA. Both stag & car were totaled. (Nearly everything in Harford County has been named for my beloved Scotland......the glens, valleys, woods, hills, streams, golf courses & roads.) But my heart has always been and will always be...in the Highlands where the red deer run❣️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Awe Cammy, you do look bit less tired today. 👍🏻 this dog business makes me very angry for you. That is not responsible dog ownership. I’ve never been around a farm or farm animals and I’ve enough sense to know that pets that are used to leash walking, feel as though they’ve hit the jackpot when the lead comes off and , look, there’s sheep to chase. Smh…just annoys me deeply. Hope things go smoothly with weather coming in. Loved seeing you just sitting in the moto taking it all in…seems to make the stress worth it. Thanks Cammy for the daily lambing vids, I look forward to these about midday in Nashville. 🙏🏻🫶🏻🐑xx

Petrichor -smell after rain, is bacteria spores, but none the less pleasant for that. Electric fence the area close to the path, think its the right call -you might get the usual ''oh, my dog got a shock' crowd but a nice big 'caution electric fence' sign will cover you there? no idea how long an area you can fence but the whole length of the path might be worth it? cracking vlog. Keep on keeping on.

Hi Cammy. Thanks for your lambing video's I really enjoy them. About the lambs with joint ill and the catching struggle when they get faster. After the first time I catch the lamb I tie a piece of baling twine to the lambs neck and where about 8 meters drags around the ground. So next time its easy to catch them by just standing on the twine. Greetings From holland.

I realize how respectful and kindhearted you have been to the negligent dog owners. I absolutely hate it, but I think you must start showing them on camera. I expect it would definitely deter the problem in your area. I wonder if it would also help the rest of us if perpetrators were more worried about their reputations. I don’t know. There needs to be much better legislation and penalties.

A lot of shepards I am watching are having massive lambs this year - yes it was a wet winter but it didn't get cold cold so the grass kept on growing - NZ had a wet winter 2023 but the summer we have just had was warm but not hot but so dry very little rain - most of the countries farmers are in drought and many are having to feed the stock - that it is this winters rations is not great

This period of wet weather over lambing time has been a bugger. There's more in the forecast too. The dog walkers are just brainless, selfish gits for letting their dogs approach the field. Even if the dogs don't actually enter the field or chase sheep, their presence at the fence can make the ewes bolt and thus cause lambs to become separated from mothers. That bit of shelter from which the woods give to the field will now need to be sacrificed by you using a line of electric fence to keep the sheep well away from the fence line. Maybe more 'in your face' big signs are needed to ask dog owners to keep their dogs away from the fence might help ? Probably not though...the owners will just say 'my dog isn't going to do anything' and ignore any request. Tits.

🇨🇦 stopping at 4:44 and thinking in my head . Would it be possible to take a few pet lambs, from the shed, along, to foster onto these great moms with loads of milk, right in the field , with all the fluids readily available ?
@lizzythomson4461
@lizzythomson4461 Ай бұрын
Hi Heather, we would only do this on a single and really the singles have been so big that it wouldn’t really work with one of the pet lambs which is often a smaller triplet, we did try one the other day and bought it back to the pens but the big lamb kept bullying off the smaller lamb so we just let it go back as a single. If we were lambing all singles and triplets in a shed we would likely try a few more. Hope that helps.
