Meg has had a lot more, busy innings, than most working dogs. Hunting breeds like Labs are rarely able to work beyond 10. Border Collie's lives are so much harder than a retriever. That she is this capable, as the equivalent of a human in their 80's, is remarkable. But she won't be able to kick back and enjoy retirement, with that amount of drive. Humans have to exercise their judgement for her.

Och Cammie, you know I know how it is watching beloved dugs get older. I'm having a wee cry about it now. Meg's looking great for her age, we've had collies live until almost 20, so I hope Meg has a good few years, and a nice long retirement in front of a fire, herding sheep in her dreams, being spoiled rotten by the weans. I raised and worked dog athletes. No matter if they can't even walk anymore. there head still wants to work and you can't stop them. Don't beat yourself up.. start to think of the farm jobs she is still capable of and confine her to just them. WOW.. what scanning sessions you are having.. AWESOME JOB you two! So happy! Congrats to your upcoming increase to the family, Liz is fantastic mum and wife. I have recommended you to another channel The Scottish Isle, they live on an Island just the two of them, they have two pet sheep that need shearing. They shear them themselves as not impressed with who did it last. Don't know if they will contact you but it would be an experience for you to meet them and see their home, and help them out. I told them you seem like a decent guy, and I know you helped out to rescue a lone sheep and I watched the shearing of it too. God bless.

I have struggled with my small flock since the rams have been breeding them year round. I separated them last year and now I can control lambing. Ram goes in end of April so I lamb in late Sept when our fall rainy season is supposed to start. Grass starts to grow again in late August here in Northern California valley so it's best to lamb in fall for me. Spring lambing is a disaster since we're getting hammered with lots of storms. Hope you are lambing in late April -1st week of may when I come to the UK. I really want to come up there to visit ! I'm going to see Will at Cowley hill farm as well and it looks like he'll be lambing his B flock when I arrive.

Thinking back to when you and Lizzie went for the natal scan and finding out the baby was a girl, the first thing you said to your viewers was, "I feel like I won the lottery! It's a girl!" What about the name Beitris, which means, "She who brings happiness?" It's the only name that seems to show how happy you and Lizzie are to be having a girl. Keep up the excellent work! with so many triplets and quads this year - I know you want to lamb outside but the cost of replacement milk with the trips and quads - just a idea - bring in to the shed all the triplets and quads with enough singles to mother as many of the trips and quads onto the single mothers as you can - I know they don't alway take (some don't like their own lambs) With the cost of milk replacement - also when you go to the farm store next time get a hand milk pump like Sandi Brooke has - alway girls with excess colostrum that can be given to other lambs instead of colostrum replacer - I might be from nz but I do have some scottish blood and don't like to waste money

Oh, Meg 😢 ❤ I had to have my Border Collie, Ella, laid to rest last October. She was 1 month shy of her 15th birthday - but she’d had 2x torn cruciate’s & TPLO surgeries, surgery to repair a broken bone in her back leg & torn ligaments, CHEWED her own tail off (broke it then decided it was a liability so got rid of it, had to have surgery to tidy it up), topped off with cancer in her paw & 1/2 her paw removed to get clear margins… and she never worked a day in her life 😉 I used to call her the supermodel of the BC world - her job was to look pretty ❤ Girls name: Charlotte (shortened to Charlie).
