When Mark said near the front “There’s so many good guitar players, I’m lucky to have my job.” Here’s the difference, Mark, you write the music these guys play. In most cases, these people don’t/can’t write this kind of stuff. No hate towards any of these musicians, but it takes special talent to write it & have it connect, like Mark & Lamb if God do!
@brianfleming9734 Жыл бұрын
Great comment. I been playing for years. Love to put heavy shit on and just jam along with. But I don’t write shit. I don’t got time for that. I just like to play and mark gives me plenty to jam with!

Marks comment "we're a dime a dozen" couldn't be more wrong. I can play some of his songs, tons of people can copy his music but to be able to write and compose it is another talent in itself. He is more talented than he gives himself credit for. He's a legend in my eyes I've never heard anyone else put bluesy licks over metal riffs like he does. Truly unique

Mark... Today on my way home from work I was thinking about this video and some of the things you said. Like "I gotta get my chops up" "I'm lucky to have the gig I do" and "good guitarist are a dime a dozen". Now, while every one of those things could and may be true, the difference is YOU brother. If you left LoG and they picked up someone else, I guarantee you for a fact that replacement just couldn't be you. Ever. And you know it too. It's your unique style and writing style that makes you the god that you are today. And yes sir, you are a guitar god at this point. Also want to add that even tho we all know that you know that you're a fucking genius. Myself, I really enjoy and appreciate your modesty and ability to stay humble. You're a fantastic person (so it seems) and a brilliant guitarist. Just wanted to share that.

Really nice that @MarkMortonMusic appreciates these covers for what they are: (1) a means for musicians to learn, and seek feedback from others; (2) showcase skills to get into a local band; and (3) express admiration and respect for the artist(s) that wrote the music. Unfortanely Lamb's publisher doesn't feel the same way. I'm a drummer and, inspired by meeting @ArtCruzDrums at the UK Drum show last year, posted a cover of Laid to Rest recently, which was immediately blocked for copyright, as the publisher doesn't allow others to use the material. I did write to the publisher with my reasons (above) and seek permission, making clear that I'd credit the artists, and not make any monetary gain, but they didn't respond. Its a shame, because I think KZbin is a really powerful tool for bringing together musicians, and supporting learning.
