I am delighted you changed your mind and are not getting out of the sheep business completely! And I'm glad you made the decision on your terms.

Joanna, and Nick, I would like to congratulate both of you for experimenting with what would work better for you, as far as lambing goes. Being an older, retired guy, I am always rethinking, what would be in my best interest, without adding stress, and how can I go through life more aerodynamically without being overwhelmed. You both have a gift in farming, as I’ve said, I imagine this is a very difficult industry, but I also think that it matches your heart. So experiment, see what works, because ultimately, this has to be enjoyable, as well as rewarding. As usual, wishing you both the very best.

Had some kind of bug over Christmas no joke its the sheer lack of energy to do much that's the worst. A low cost sheep production system is probably the best way for you guys when your so busy with your successful holiday business. Keeps the farm in good heart and with lambs at this time of year making over 200 pounds should make a bit of money.

Think I’m off back to work tomorrow after catching some flu like 😖. I just remembered, the lad we get straw off started lambing before Xmas😬🫣. Nice to see you more upbeat for this spring… better days are coming again😊

Should be much better weather when you lamb and you shouldn't be short of grass. Hope you didn't get too much snow. All the best 🇬🇧.

What a beautiful blue sky. Great to see. IMHO Joanna you won't regret scaling back the sheep production side of things and by doing it this way you are still able to keep your livestock management skills sharp for when and if the prices paid for livestock become reasonably viable again. Over the years we've had to implement this exact same strategy here as well. I'm glad you're both over the flu. I copped a dose of Double Pneumonia here in our winter back in August. I'm still feeling the effects of it too. As always Joanna you're doing a top job running Dale Farm. Stay safe and well.

Glad to see you put the tup in. Hopefully you can lamb close to the campsite to make it easier and they won’t be needing any extra feed at that time. Hopefully you are able to keep the lambs going until next spring to get the extra value 🤞

Bitter cold here. Cleaning the chicken coop, not bad in the coop but the minute I come out side to push the wheelbarrow to the compost pile the wind cuts right through my clothes.

You were right to cut Sheep numbers. They would put u in bad health. Lovely warm weather in May and no house needed. Less expense and torture. Good luck. Youre a great woman 👩 😅😅😅
@georgedoorley562819 күн бұрын
late lambs around here made the most money this year .......and probably will next year also .........less sheep will over winter better for you also .......good decision to cut back the numbers as you probably have your hands full with the campsite ...... dont be afraid to give a lame ewe a shot of long acting penicillin i find that it often works for me here ......lameness is a constant battle ..!

Hi can you make a lambing assistance video?
@geraldbeard85616 күн бұрын
so how many sheep do you have now ?? i think many farmers make the mistake of trying to do more and more all the time........whether it's keeping more sheep or more cows or what ever but very often you end up over working yourself and the farm and then the enjoyment goes out of it. we use to be Dairy farmers but after the death of both my parents i was left on my own and it was just all too much work for me on my own so i gave up the milking and keep some suckler cows now .........not always easy mind you but it's easier than Dairy farming. hopefully the weather should be a bit kinder for lambing in May.........see how it goes
