I really appreciated Donald's judging criteria explanation and it speaks to the knowledge one must have to judge a Concours at such a high level. I'm a conservator for a zero-to-ultra low mileage collection of cars and motorbikes. You could next time try putting racing tyre warmers on the original tyres, plus there are a couple specialised products which are petroleum distillate free (for real distillate free, not just advertised as such, most lie, read the MSDS) which carefully nourish and restore the rubber. - In a past life I was also an NCRS judge for C1 56-57, I owned a low original mileage one myself. Good overview of the judging process for an event like this.

How do the judges know everything about correct screws, fit, finish, materials, etc... surely they can't know everything about every car they are faced with ... and there cannot be enough time to delve into a restoration folder, to discuss or debate in period amendments etc....

Many of them are experts in their field, and a great deal of research is done on their part before judging to understand their class.
