Been waiting eagerly for another one of your vids & you haven't disappointed Steve 👍🏼 very informative & needs more testing as you said, short fin, long fin, lightened flywheel etc. Quite a significant difference from standard to your design so I know what I'll be doing over winter 😀 Cheers Ste & keep up the mint vids 👌👍🏼

Since I saw your first videos about cooling, I remove the central part of the cover and the difference of temperature is huge in all my lambrettas.

Love these videos. At last something I can do with my vast experience and mechanical skills. Cut the centre out of my flywheel cover 🤣. That’s my next project. Thanks for doing all the legwork and experimentation.

@@TheSteelweasel thank's a lot. In the past I had modified by home work the old stator with original spark ignition innocenti 6 volts now obsolete, using instead of it the bobin and pick up of electronics px. For flywheel, my old friend by machine work has modified the magnets making a cast in protuberance for pick up. Was working it was an esperiment but well done anyway.

I have the bgm electronic kit on mine too and i purchased the casa performance cooler kit which meant i had to machine the fins slightly of the bgm to fit the casing i wonder if it affects the cooling as i reduced the size of the fins
@TheSteelweasel
@TheSteelweasel 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I would think it will reduce flow ? Also clearance between fan and cover is very important it should be around 1 to 2 mm . Dont have a casa cooler to test unfortunately

Hi Steve yet another good vid does this mean if you put a good kit on your scoot with all the bits to raise the performance in Britain we also have to sort the flywheel cowling out or we might seize the engine in the summer 🤔🤔🤔

But how much flow do you actually need?
@TheSteelweasel
@TheSteelweasel 4 жыл бұрын
more air flow removes more energy , unfortunately we dont have the correct surface area so we compensate with as much air as possible ...... more power = more heat ( energy) so as you can see its not possible to quote the amount needed as we all have different engines there for different heat range ? the original lambretta li 150 was 6.6 bhp and designed as a commuter , no motorways or fast roads . the fan and fin area was designed for this use ,we now sit on motorways with 25bhp + hope that explains why im doing this work . sorry i cant help you with the exact flow for your engine 👍
@triplefanatic
@triplefanatic 3 жыл бұрын
In the interests of good Science pls post a comparison of standard flywheel cowl with the central (grille) section removed - would make for a much more meaningful comparison as that grille restricts flow significantly.
