I'd sell them lambs others will come faster then keep taking the tops off, I agree with you with on the financial side I rent 320 acre farm 26k a year rent house with it decent ground hill farm but all ploughed ground, if I had no rent to pay and i owned it would be 26k up before I started I could invest that in the place, but then would never afford to buy it as it would be anything from 1.5 to 2.5 million to buy I'd never afford the mortgage,

Hopefully lamb prices are improving but the cost of insurance for the farm is no joke someone is making money and it ain't the farmers

I'd definitely get rid of the 16 lambs. They are well fit. The rest of the lambs will come on quickly you'll find. Shearing them would be a good job, but not now. Something to consider for next year. Keep up the good work. 👍

Leg of mutton put in the slow cooker in the morning is glorious come teatime. More people should eat mutton it’s much better than “lamb” and cheaper Ps you and Oliver and the kids are doing great.

All farming is cyclical and it can be harder in the initial years, with determination and hard work there is light at the end of the tunnel. As you say, itis a way of life. Don't give up, but I don't think you will.

Aww congratulations sam! I'm made up for you and I hope it just keeps growing for you and hopefully you will get you 10,000 followers by Christmas😊 plus by making these vlogs there always great memories to look back on in year to come and think that's where it started! I wish you all the luck and success sam 😊 Also sam could i ask do you eat your own meat or not? Sorry sam but after watching till the end, atleast your honest about the struggles and don't just sugar coat it and make out everything ok when it's not! Plus you farmers only get most of your income once a year and I imagine that's hard to make it stretch to cover everything, then there is stuff like emergencies that you don't account for! I feel for you as the price of everything is just stupidly high right now! I have horses and I'm up in Cheshire and the price of straw has gone through the roof! I used to pay £25 for a big round bail, your lucky if you can find it under £80 pound a bail now, there is some out there for less like £60 to £65 but with that the straw's awful due to the summer we had, so it all has a knock on affect! Hay is also the same i used to pay £30 your lucky to get it for £80 for a round bail! Plus I understand that you grow your own and that must keep some costs down, but then when you go into feed and barley ect it's all just stupid money! I've never known anything like it.

I am another with no patience. It's very hard to make money in farming and especially when all the bills are coming at once. Don't think you are doing anything wrong when you have to rent the farm aswell it's a huge outlay of money on top. we finish all our lambs and sell the lambs as they come fit no point feeding them lambs on at 46 or 47 kgs weight past that in my opinion.

I had texel cross which were white and they made £90 (store) I also had the same sheep which were white similar weight £60 store , I asked the dealer who bought them why did the colour make such a big difference, he said black sheep are harder to put on condition! Racism!

i'm not a sheep man but i would say that your best way is to sell the lambs the weight that buyers want them . the only thing that your doing wrong in my opinion sam is getting inside that bloody straw blower when it's working to unblock it........if oliver accidently pushed the leaver the wrong way you would be sucked into the thing in a jiffy.........don't do it !!! .....you may say oh i've done it hundreds of times it's been ok but it only takes once for it to be all over. had a neighbor once trying to unblock a round baler while the baler was still running it suddenly unblocked itself and he got sucked into the baler.........machinery can be dangerous switch it off before working on it

Hi Sam, that was very honest, a very famous man named Nelson Mandela, spoke about a person like you, a person who has dreams, a person who has frustrations, a person who has challenges everyday in what they do. . . He said '' A winner is a dreamer, who never gives up''.... never give up, so many people without telling you are very proud to see you achieve what you do.... Your a cup half full person... Proud of you girl...😉

You might think you're not making money, but you will be. I know the frustration of rents and bills to pay when everything you make just goes back out again. Your profits are tied up in stock and tractors/machinery. It will be much harder for you because you're still just getting going, really. Well done on your own official business! 👍
