Similar story here. Imagine how people stare when I stand up from my wheelchair to stretch my hurting legs!! In fact I’ve stopped using my wheelchair in public for that reason, even when my pain is high. Because I’m tired of the stares & I refuse to explain myself to strangers.

@@LOwens-xf8yo omg I’m a ambulatory wheelchair user too so I get this!! I hate that people look at us like we’re faking it or don’t really need it because we stand up for a second or are able to walk some. A therapist told me once that you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone, just the ones that matter. I know it’s so hard, but you putting yourself through even more pain isn’t worth the false opinions of others. Do what YOU need to do to live the best life you can 💙 Still so incredibly valid to feel like that though!!

Can I claim I’m disabled if I haven’t been officially diagnosed? I’m not sure if it’s rude or not but it’s clear I am so I just want to know from ppl who have been diagnosed. (I’m young and only been in every day pain for a few months, but it started growing 2 years ago) I really am sorry if this is rude

Hi there, this isn't rude to me at all! Chronic pain definitely classifies as a disablility. And a disability is basically a condition that limits someone's ability to function. Whether it's physical or mental, 100% of the time or only sometimes, it's still valid! Disability is a spectrum and it's okay if you fall somewhere on it :)
