I'm Trini and had Haitian food for the first time at an event I went to last weekend and have been OBSESSED. I cleared my whole plate and started looking up recipes as soon as I was done and stumbled across your page. It's given me so much good info. So far I've made pickliz, haitian fried chicken + green seasoning. Want to make the macaroni au gratin but used up my peppers so I'll save that for next time

Lamise, all I could picture in my head was my Haitian mom, aunties, and grandma giving me that look as I pulled out that can of kidney beans to cook my rice😂😂😂. They know the new generation of Haitian women is busy, and they would still stress me out for not cooking those beans from scratch. I will definitely try it! You are the best!

Haitians never measure the rice or the water. You removed the extra liquid but how did you know how much to remove? Also you say two cups of water for one cup of rice but what about the liquid that's already there from the coconut milk and bean juice? Tèt mwen fè mwen mal la! I feel like I'll never master rice and beans because of that.

I’m not a fan of beans, but the canned beans work better with Haitian rice, 🤫 don’t tell my mom. The canned beans keeps it form, color, texture, adds flavor, and it’s easier to remove, if you’re not a fan of beans, lol.

I have seen this rice multiple times in Jamaican homes, Haitians homes, African homes maaaaaan even Dominican homes Puerto Rican’s homes and so much more.
@dp9234 жыл бұрын
@flonoiisana46474 жыл бұрын
Lol
