In my opinion, this record is very powerful. I feel like at some point Lana was broken and the people closest to her put her back together piece by piece, and now she’s healing. Friends and family are very important during the healing process. Sometimes calling on them can be life changing if you have nowhere else to turn.

This feels like one of Lana’s most underrated songs. Hauntingly beautiful progression through a story of loss, acceptance and beauty of heartbreak. It doesn’t rely on a repetitive chorus to fill out the socially accepted length of a song, it’s almost 5 minutes of raw, gut wrenching honesty and reflection. Pure work of art.

People say that the music deserved a better video, but I think the video is very fit for the music. It seems like it was taken with a simple camera, low on saturation and lightness, depicting her sadness. She is sad, even in the video, as she is trying to move on with the help of her friends, hanging around in her place, doing everything and nothing. The video is simple; no special effects, no bright colors, no dancing lights. The video is her sadness depicted. And sadness is blue, like her banisters, raining like the sky, it feels like breathing in sleep, deep and slow.

If you’re curious to know why, I’ll tell you a list. -Convincing listeners that suicide is heavenly. Which is a unforgivable sin to commit. -sex before marriage, and being lustful. -adultery. -practicing witchcraft to get the demons will into cursing someone. - copying Jim Jones ideas into preaching false prophecy and following Charles Manson’s theories on how he manipulated the shit out of his leaders.

In my opinion, one of her most underrated works. The brilliance of the songwriting is so subtle - and without much clammer from a bang-y melody...the details of this song's beauty exist its subtle delicacy. Love Lana - grateful that she shares her gifts.

I love how different her newer music videos are. She's being more real and genuine in them, her older ones (which I adore, no hate for them) seem to dramatize her songs and make them seem more like a story, while her newer videos, it's like she's showing us a look into her real self. She's doing the videos with her friend and sister, she's doing normal things that still show the story without glamorizing it. She's no longer the 'sad girl' aesthetic Tumblr made her out to be, she matured and is now being perceived as the person she should be; a woman is fierce and powerful but also a woman who doesn't have a perfect past and burdened with a sadness. She's more real in her videos, the way she looks at the camera makes it so easy to connect with her and understand what she's expressing. I hope this easy to understand, and not messy like my last comment...

@@rainatmidnight @iiCloudy_Apples true! But it didn't seem that way with her music videos, they always seemed to try to fit a story more than showing what she was singing about. May you please help me understand what the "blue" Banisters stand for? And why are they green and grey at the end?
@vdLeo-je6os2 жыл бұрын
In heraldry, blue represents truth and fidelity, and perhaps that’s why we hear Lana sing: “Said he’d come back every May/ Just to help me if I’d paint my banisters blue.” In ancient Egypt, the scenes of soul weighing were painted with a light sky blue background, as the Egyptians believed this to be the color of truth. Moreover, it was also common in some ancient cultures for brides to wear something blue to ensure fidelity in marriage. Blue railings, like the color itself, symbolize infinity, emptiness, and eternity. Blue is the color of transparency. A wall painted light blue can seem to glow and somehow disappear. Lana is ‘painting her banisters blue’. And apparently the color blue, against its conventional symbolic usage, is rather something which Lana Del Rey regularly uses in a positive connotation.
@kamussy.m2 жыл бұрын
@@vdLeo-je6os Then why are they painted green and grey at the end?
@vdLeo-je6os2 жыл бұрын
@@kamussy.m Green as you know is universally associated with nature, linked as it is to grass, plants and trees. It also represents growth and renewal, being the color of spring and rebirth. Another association is “getting the green light” to go ahead, giving it an association with taking action.
@vdLeo-je6os2 жыл бұрын
@@kamussy.mOn the other hand In color psychology, grey represents neutrality and balance. Its color meaning likely comes from being the shade between white and black. However, grey does carry some negative connotations, particularly when it comes to depression and loss. Its absence of color makes it. I hope I ve been usefull

I feel like lana's new album is more like a poetry singing with mellow melody , and her vocals and lyrics are what makes this album beautifull , her early works like BTD or UV are songs that you play and like the rhythm and like it for the music , but something like banisters you need to focus on lyrics to see what's really beautifull about it , sometimes we need this soft and bright songs , and you can see she is really happy now , her music videos are brighter , she smiles more and spend her time with family, we still have her past works and we can listen to them , but as someone who appreciable poetry I think this album had the best lyrics and meanings and it's best to listen In night and think about your life

I have loved Lana since I found her. But not only her but in my opinion you find a lot of music that you love and yes for the lyrics, most of my favorite bands are constantly consistent with being able with both lyrics and music. Unfortunately like you said, pay attention to the lyrics, it should be enjoy the song entirely. I feel that is why she isn't more popular as she was with her first 3 albums. There's a special kind of life-pain that Lana sings about. She articulates it's ghostly qualities and what its like to lost, really lost. Life conceals a deep sadness waiting for us all - it's just a matter of time before it visits us. I was once asked to go into an old man's house who had died without any relatives, I was a witness to the his last presences, articulated in his life-gathered belongings. His had clothes, folded in his drawers, memorabilia and photographs of people and places in his past; his weeding his retirement, holidays with friends. We carefully went through his belongings, swept them up and removed them- those that could be sold went to charity shops and anything that couldn't be recycled went into a skip. He had lived a full life, when you looked at those photographs you knew that once upon a time this man had lived surrounded by people he was close to. The emptiness of that house, stripped of his things, when we left and closed the door, has haunted me since
