In this video they make a pact to kill themselves together. That's why they start to kiss while driving. Their idea is to crash. But they do and only she gets killed. He survives. And the palace where she's singing (the Palace of Fontainebleau in France) is the purgatory where she awaits her moment to go to Heaven, which comes at the end when she opens the doors and goes into the light. You can see in some parts when she's singing that he appears around her, and it might seem that he's the dead one, but it's actually her, surrounded by flowers like in her deathbed. This story continues in "Blue Jeans" when you can see again the way she offers herself to him as a willing victim, and it ends in "Shades of Cool" where her ghost haunts him when he's old and tortures him with guilt. That's the trilogy. It's very sad and dark. The love she portraits not only in these three songs but also in songs line Million Dollar Man and Black Beauty from her next album, is a destructive and toxic love in which she's in love with someone who is so dark that is incapable of receiving love and incapable of loving someone else, but she's so in love that she's willing to be hus victim and following him to the very depths of the abyss.

You forgot the video of West Coast, it's in the same timeline with Shades of Cool. It's like a spin-off, the past and the future where he is old and young but she still young cuz she's alive and death in the past and the future.
