If you enjoy her storytelling you should definitely listen to her albums in order. Ride is definitely a must watch, but you should probably watch Blue Jeans next because it ties into Born to Die.

Vocal Timbre, or as it is described as the quality of that tone utilizing complex overtones, or sound waves, is that unique “something” that gives color and personality to your voice, and how it is recognized. Every voice has its own distinguished timbre.

You next few songs you should react to in order are 1) Blue Jeans 2) National Anthem 3) Ride Would be awesome if you did a full album reaction after finishing her music videos!!
@JenniferDelRey2 жыл бұрын
Lana is a mezzo-soprano, which basically means she can hit the notes of an alto as well as a soprano, she has a broad range and she’s usually most comfortable in the middle range/chest voice but does use her head voice often. (Just in case no one answered your question in the beginning of the video!)
@Leeoxyz2 жыл бұрын
I was waiting for this! If you want to see her cinematic side please watch Ride, the 10 minute video with a monologue in it that furthers the story told in the song
@joellem6252 жыл бұрын
This reaction was everything this is how all of us felt after hearing and seeing born to die!!! I literally want you to react to her whole discography! But “blue jeans” would be the next song if u wanna go in order it tells a story about the same love interest from born to die.
@kllrj082 жыл бұрын
Off To The Races is a perfect example of Lana using different tones and textures of her voice for her storytelling in her songs. It’s still my favorite song of hers, before it I had never heard any other “pop” song like it before!

Lana and her team used to be worried she wouldn’t be “taken seriously” if she sang in her head voice. A lot of her earlier music is in her chest voice but the more recent stuff has her experimenting with the other side of her range! Examples being beautiful and sweet Carolina from bb

Loved the reaction! I have the same interpretation and really enjoyed how you discussed her lyrics. If you're able to react to full albums I'd really recommend listening to Lana's in order. They all have a different vibe and story which I think you'd love (e.g. Born to Die is all about the toxic relationship you saw here). BUT if you are only interested in doing one song at a time, I think Ride or Young and Beautiful would be some good ones from around the same time as this one!

Great reaction and analysis, you got it at the first time. The next one could be Blue Jeans, because it kind of pairs with this one (even with the same guy in the video). Also 'National Anthem' and 'Ride' are both great for a visual and artistic experience and 'Off To The Races' to hear her different singing voices. All of these songs are from the same album.

watch "ride" by her, probably her best music video

this song is still till this day one of her best ones. the whole lyrical content is a huge existential metaphor about life and, at the same time, the description of that relationship. It really showcase perfectly her ablitys. Great reaction!

You should definitely listen to her albums. You'll find lots of lyrical treasures in each of the album. The best part of listening to albums in the order they were released is that you can see her projection on events of her life, relationships, fame, breakups, etc. IMHO, you should check at least Ultraviolence and NFR albums

they way she sings is simply lana del rey and if you notice it, there is a lot of people in the industry influenced by her style now-days, she changed the whole scenario with born to die back in the 2010s it was definitely a cultural reset, sad-pop became a thing and now we have the sadboys and trappers singing about wanting to die playing on the radio and also halsey or billie or melanie martinez or even bigger artists like Taylor's folklore

You know, all the part of the video where she’s in the church is like the Lana’s soul… she’s like passing away… in fact in the scene before the car crash, she open a big door after a long corridor, with a strong white light from the other side, like she’s going to heaven or something… Love it! Goose bumps… Anyway, love from 🇮🇹 Italy

i’ve been waiting for your lana arc for so long!! national anthem is another really fun video to watch. Lana’s register may be inspired by Native American singing, folk singing, Elvis, and Johnny Cash, all of which Lana has said molded her into the artist she is today. Her Born to Die era is a hybrid of classical instruments, jazz, hiphop, rap, and poetry. Lana Del Rey once said she idolizes Eminem and really looks up to him as an artist.

Thanks for this reaction :) To explain Lana's voice: Her voice is a Contralto, which is the lowest female register; you can have alto 1 and 2. I'm a 1 and I suspect Lana is because we can hit higher and lower notes than the alto 2s, but when she hits the 'near bass but not' then that is alto 2 range; still she can also hit a 'high' 1 in this song, too. She has a great range - I suspect between low 2 and high 1. Hope that helps but I can't read music; I am in a very good choir, though, and am a very good singer. I adore singing this cos it stretches my alto range, and it's an amazing song. I recommend altos sing this to practice.
