she writes almost all her music about her life experiences (hard drug addictions, alcohol addiction, being groomed by older men, abusive relationships, struggles with money), thats why i think i love it so much its not just lyrics she paid somone else to write for her its actually real for her

Most of the songs from ‘Born to Die’ fall into the “good girl meets bad boy” category, where her boyfriend is this extremely toxic or abusive figure yet she can’t help loving, praising, and longing for him like he’s the best thing she’s ever known. I mean, that’s a concept that spans the entirety of Lana’s discography, but ‘Born to Die’ plays with it the most, painting this really dark, almost hopeless story between a young, wide-eyed girl with all this love to give, and the bad boy, dragging her down to doom. This song is a good example of that; it is the title track after all. Anyways, love the videos, subscribed and can’t wait for more ! :)
@BestFriendsReact3 жыл бұрын
thats a situation pretty much everyone has been in to some degree, its cool that she is able to capture that and make ppl feel it again.. Sometimes (a lot of times) i dont pay too much attention to lyrics themselves, but more to the feeling the song as a whole conveys, usually its about the same meaning but makes it more tailored to you
@erincoyne68983 жыл бұрын
Yes. But I’d also like to add that Lana herself, in various interviews, expressed that this particular song is about the moment when she realised her (and everyone else’s) mortality. The fact that we’re all going to die (a thought which scared/scares her) juxtaposed with those fleeting moments of happiness that she felt while being in love with this particular guy at the time, and could hold on to as a kind of hope or happy distraction from that real, unavoidable fate.
@lizka87923 жыл бұрын
She herself has said that although she gave up lot of her personal goals at the time etc, she really enjoyed and loved that time of her life, when life was simple, she was happy, in love with her boyfriend and just happy domestic life etc and cherishes and will cherish that time of her life for a long time(abt Video Games exactly). So its not all bad-bad.

And a lot of relationships like that end with the man killing the woman... especially when she finally tries to leave.
@tangerine46653 жыл бұрын
You are right, Lana said that when she realized that she can write about herself, about real life, about real shit, is when she had sort of an epiphany. This is not a quote, just something along those lines. There's a lot of metaphors, irony and sarcasm in iher music, and her videos exaggerate to get the point across...but yes, you feel her music because you know the emotion is real.
@nandezjl02113 жыл бұрын
The storytelling and cinematography is literally masterful! This is one of my most favorite Lana songs and video. The juxtaposition of her look and aesthetic being heavily Americana Pop with the ability for her to convey this genuine romanticism and lush baroque-style orchestral background truly reminiscent of old hollywood is so emotional and breathtaking.

Great reaction ! Lana del Rey is in my opinion one of the most underrated songwriters, and possibly the best in the last decade. Her songs are pure poetry, mostly dark and melancholic, all coming from real places. As you say - she comes across 100% authentic. Together with the music, the tone of her voice and the visuals, it is a true piece of art. Very few records we buy these days, we revisit many years later. Hers are all timeless. Pure art.

Agh, I'm loving this! Watching reaction videos to people discovering LDR has been my favorite thing, and your reactions are so thoughtful and funny! AND can we appreciate that you both went on to react to not JUST Chemtrails Over the Country Club but also to Fuck It I Love You/The Greatest (which is SO underrated, ESPECIALLY The Greatest), and now Born to Die which makes me re-live discovering those songs all over again! I'd also say her other masterpiece is Ride, from her second album. The music video alone for it is so beautifully shot. Anyway, thanks for these LDR reaction vids! I laughed and teared up along with you guys.💓👏✨

Correct!! Tbh, with the channel this is the first time ive gotten to know an artist 1 song at a time... i usually find an artist then just spam out a discography over a few days because i crave to hear it all. There's an ultra-ultra-ultra-ultra-huge talent on the rise now, a 15 year old girl called Angelina Jordan, you might have heard of her, she left a huge impression in AGT the champions once. If you think Lana Del Rey is gifted, Angelina sang "born to die" at home as a 12 year old and it sounds even better than Lana Del Rey kzbin.info/www/bejne/en-4XnuZgdqClas , believe it or not. I highly recommend to give Angelina Jordan a listen, it would be fun to react to that mega-talent. Example: "Something's got a hold on me" kzbin.info/www/bejne/inTGZYygp85mpsU (Angelina at 11 years old)
