That black spreads so beautifully on the wet paper. I've seen these Viarco 'blocks' around for some time now. Your work with them is great. I loved those monkeys on IG. Absolutely fine work.

Thank you! Yes, all of those blocks spread sooo much in water, this was very unexpected for me as I kind of thought they would move less. I'll edit some of the monkey footage into a video too, the blocks were much more fun on toned paper to be honest. :D

I think for this I would have preferred a stronger graphite too, but the other two look lovely. I am more interested in the coloured ArtGraf sets myself they really call to me, as you know! Lovely artwork as usual!

I know what you mean. This one really shines on toned paper though - need to edit that footage - as the white really comes in handy then. As for the coloured ones I have the Earth Colours too and I'm really tempted to get the other ones to test too.

This was wonderful to watch , i love the effects you created and the tones you achieved . After watching your recent review on the 6 set as well this set , I definitly will be ordering some to have a try ! I’m exited to use them and thanks so much for your fabulous informative reviews

Aw thank you Jen! This means so much, that you like them. If you want to try, they also come in singles, Nora commented underneath the other video, that she uses them for monochromatic value studies, which sounds really clever. :)

Oh, this looks interesting. I'm big fan of monochromatic paintings. Thse would be interesting to see in database, especially because they don't have pigment info. I'm bit sceptical when company doesn't give pigment info and doesn't have any lightfastness rating. Those blocks will surely last long time, they are huge!

I will add them to the database soon and have pigment info now! All the blocks are 6-8 on blue wool scale, so pretty lightfast. (6 was not in this set) Now that I have the info, I want to have them all to test and swatch. :D

Thanks for this review, Lana! It's kind of a shame that the graphite block is so weak, but the carbon black is beautifully rich and dark.

Thanks for the comment! I agree, the graphite could have been darker, like a 3B pencil - that would be a dream! But I'm really happy with the other two to paint and the graphite is used for sketches now. Nothing gets lost or wasted :)
