If you're looking at the Matthews lift bow. I'd recommend shooting it first against other bows. It is super light and is fairly fast. But I just shot that bow yesterday and was excited to shoot it because of all the reviews on it. I was extremely disappointed with that bow. There's no way in any world I would buy that bow. Draw back was horrible, shooting it was exhausting, and it kept wanting to shoot forwar when I wasn't even close to ready to let go of the arrow as I was holding it back . Never had a bow do that to me before.. and iv been shooting my whole life. and it was adjusted to my 28" draw. All 3 of us who tried that bow couldn't wait to stop shooting it. This bow isn't as good as they make it out to be.

Looking at jumping back in, first its sad to see all these bows test so far under their rating, and really not much faster at all if any than my 20+ year old Hoyt Smoke with 32" draw ( 74lbs iirc).. Have i lost my mind or did the IBO rating change? It i thought used to IBO had the standard 30" draw at 70lb with a 5gpi arrow aka 350? And AMO we referred to as hunting weight? Did IBO have to change with parallel limbs and 80lbs more common? Also is 5gpi still the minimum before risking the bow or can you go lighter than 5gpi per lb since just lookint at it more energy seems to come from the cams vs limb movement..as such does one still get the power stroke advantage i enjoyed at a longer draw length ( i mean my Hoyt shot well above its rating 342 iirc limbs cranked down and 32 in what 1999?) Or can it hinder speed due to cam travel for optimum power stroke...hurt accuracy ect aka is it a detriment... The 31.5" off the 33 with a loop would probably fit me perfectly, and id guess considering there was only real world fps difference at 70/30/350 in this test id be 340+ on the 33? Probably 300 flat with a 450ish grain arrow? Damn lot to re-learn im super excited about the state of sights, rest and well 85% let off vs 55 lol

That’s because the risers are as long as the axle to axle and the limbs are parallel to the riser. This helps stability. Other companies have shorter risers and the limbs angle upwards, so they appear smaller. But realistically at the longest measurement point they are the same height as the Mathews.

I don't know why companies still inflate their speed numbers to such a ridiculous degree. There should be a new standard where bows are tested at realistic conditions, 30", 70# with a 350 and a 450gr arrow, with a 6gr peep and a loop attached to the string. It might take a few years for customers to adjust, but in time a 320fps speed rating for anything with 6.5" brace or more will be considered very quick. I have also noticed that the higher the numbers are, the more fudged they are as well. For example, most Hoyt bows shoot pretty close to their advertised ratings. However, no 350fps+ bow from Hoyt has ever come close to the official numbers. With Mathews, it seems to be the same thing. The 29.5 is way off, the 33" not that much, eventhough it's not even at it's maxed out cam position.

PS, I don't see many people going out and shooting a deer with a 350 grain arrow at 70 lbs. The average hunting arrow is 400 plus. Bring in true speeds, with a true hunting arrow. They don't do it because the speeds would be a lot lower. Let's say 80 lbs 30 in draw a real sub 400 to 500 grain arrow....would net roughly 300 fps or under. Their bows would still sell....why are they bring bare minimum arrow grains and max lbs to get a certain speed?
@Rikcey
@Rikcey 11 ай бұрын
I don't like the aesthetics, with those limbs flexing in that much you lose so much in the cam stance and thus string angle. I don't know. Bow technology seems stagnant, we're at peak performance and they all try to sell stuff you don't need (I mean, all pros torque tune, but no integrated rest can move (and picatinny mounted sights cannot move either). I guess that should make archers happy though, no need to upgrade means more practice with what you have.

@@LancasterArcherySupply He is right. PSE has IBO listed on their website. Bowtech has IBO listed on theirs as well, "The IBO speed advertised is achieved with a 70lb bow with a 350 grain arrow".

@@seniorvendetta96 how bout another douche bag who doesn’t like a bow company, but has to watch all there reviews anyway. You people can’t seem to understand that Mathews is testing the bows by ibo standards. 80 pounds 400 grain arrow at max draw length. Most if not all competitors are testing by ata standards 70 pounds 30 inch draw 350 grain arrow. Just because they advertise an ibo speed. Does not mean they are testing at ibo standards. Pj explains this very well during the video. Did you watch the video. Or do you just have an issue understanding simple explanations.
