High school flute player here. I recommend starting out with the head joint and foot joint to make a baby flute! It's going to be easier for her to manage as a beginer!

Lance, thanks so much. I need to be reminded constantly about proper hand positioning, and not stretching my neck to meet the flute. By the way, I also get directions wrong all the time. So much so, that my husband now calls "right" "the other left", and "left" "the other right"

I am a certified flute player in middle school yes it’s very hard learning the note but I have found my play spot and I need to learn how to switch my fingers like e flat this helped a lot and had such a better explanation thank you 🤍!!

I wonder if the right pinky has the task to balance the flute just like in a bow hold for violin

Good thought. However, some fingerings do not involve RH pinky. Also, you need to be able to move freely to the footjoint. If the RH pinky is used for balance, this will lead to instability in those situations. Ideally, the flute should be able to balance with no keys depressed.

OMG. you're killin me - such a great video....fingering so clean....and then you NEVER even played the note so I could hear what it should sound like. UGH
