This was fantastic. Thanks for making a video on this car. Waiting for the 25 year mark in the US to import one myself. You guys need more subs. Your content is great!

So it isn't only the Skyline R34 that isn't legal in the US ?
@abadibi8 жыл бұрын
+Fred Schriks even the RS200 apparently
@mildmanneredthinkingman93238 жыл бұрын
+ Fred Schriks Any road car not made for the the US market has to be 25 years or older for importatation. It's US law. Right now, it's legal to import a R32 into the states but you cannot as of this time import an R33 or R34 because they do not meet the silly mandate. If you want any interesting read, check out some american automative history on a company called Moterex that actually imported R34s and R33s and made them US road legal, only to get in a lot of trouble themselves. Only a handful of R34s are road legal in the US. bit.ly/1WU1RFI
@mildmanneredthinkingman93238 жыл бұрын
The RS200 should be legal in the US. As it's made from 1984-1986. Way ahead of the 25 years mark.

''This car reminds me of a time when I was younger, when the world was a difference place and we didn't have so many rules, life was a little bit more binary, black and white, that's why I love it.'' I do not know, and I could not possibly know how things were, since the Evo II is older than I am myself, but judging from Movies, pictures and stuff looks like things were nice and simple. I do not know how old I'll be, but someday I'll get myself an Evo II, I think it will help me travel back to that era for quite some time...
@SIPEROTH8 жыл бұрын
The key word is this " we didn't have so many rules". Now we take offence and try to "protect" everyone from their own self and control everything that we made life boring and annoying at times. Many things are better now but if you were lucky to live in a democratic western nation in the old days you felt more freedom and less being checked out by your government and institutions.

Ben Chesterman So right. A few days ago an old lady asked me to park her car because she couldn't manage to park it between two cars. It was a modern Volkswagen. Automatic or manual i ask. Manual she says, "You know manual?" she asks. Sure that's actually better i tell her, i always drove manual so i am not exactly familiar with automatics. She was happy she found someone that knew manual. Anyway i get inside and i have to push a button(it had so many buttons around the gearshift you thought it was auto), then i put first gear and step on the gas. Nothing happens, the car doesn't move. I was like. Wtf is happening? I asked her if there is anything else i have to press or something. Nope she says. Well maybe i didn't put the gear well i think. It is an unknown car. I do it again. Nothing. The car roars but it doesn't move. I am perplexed (and worried am embarrassing my self). The gear is in, the handbrake is off(also a damn button) why isn't the car moving? I ask again if there is something because the car should move but it doesn't. And then she replies. "Oh! I forgot! You have to put your seatbelt on for the car to move." Seriously Volkswagen? How patronizing can you get? I am a grown man i don't need you not letting me drive unless am under your protection. I know to put my damn seatbelt on. Of course there was no need to put it there because i wasn't going anywhere, i was just parking the car. I hate how cars became our damn nannies. Instead of we driving them they want to drive us.

I grew up in that simpler time! I actually owned a 74 Lancia Fulvia Coupe. Since then I had all sets of cars including BMW’s. Looking back, the Fulvia was actually a great car and was my favorite of all time. Very basic but tons of fun. I’m sure the EVO II would be even more fun. I want one!
@mehmetmutluoglu15426 жыл бұрын
You are one lucky guy for having that kind of a jewel. I remember an older guy telling me what the off-set engine was that Fulvia had I didn't know. Anyway I consider myself a lucky man to have a chance sitting in an '74 Alfa 2000 Bertone during late 80s.

My brother had/has several Integrale's. One had a sticker on the Momo steering wheel which read, 'a serious amount of fun can result from the misuse of this product'. Sums it up perfectly.

I lusted after this car as a teenager and was lucky enough to afford one some time back. Yes it cost a bunch while I had it, but it was just the most beautiful thing to drive and look at. I forgive all of it's costs and flaws for the experience of walking up and climbing inside it while people watched in envy!

Loved every minute of my ownership of an early 8v and miss it every day. Still the Mini GP I drive now comes very close :). Don't miss the hunt for non existent spares 🤑 I broke a steering rack, 6 months to find a replacement. Would do it again tomorrow. Best car ever.

I love this video. I'm a younger classic owner (I was 24 when I bought my Jaguar XJR-s) but I love classic cars for the same reasons - they don't cosset you with lots of layers of technology that remove you from the driving experience. 'Character' is a cliche often used, but it is valid, classics tend not to be bland. Most modern cars are 'good', but sometimes a car can be subjectively brilliant despite being objectively crap on many levels - it's all part of what makes us fall in love with them, warts and all. I'd rather have a car which is amazing in some aspect, and rubbish in others, than a boring car that is 'white goods' and bland. It makes every adventure more memorable.

I have a Lord Blue Evo2 and an Elise 1zz. Both are pretty fantastic cars to drive in very different ways. Ruperts ethos is directly in line with my beliefs. Small, swift, well packaged and feeling the machine and road are the best way to enjoy driving. If you're reading this Rupert I would strongly suggest fitting an uprated chip (evo engineering) and boost controller along with final edition springs. They compliment the car superbly. Really struggle to get passionate about any new cars nowadays.
