Bugsy Fishing

Күн бұрын

In Episode 5 Bugsy takes us to a local ledge in Sydney NSW Australia for some shore jigging targeting bonito. Bugsy is using the Palms Slow Blatt Cast Wide micro jig in 60g with Zebra Glow colour. This is a new land based lure fishing technique for Bugsy and he takes us through some tips and learnings. Micro jigging is productive on a number of fish species both pelagics and demersals. Rock fishing can be dangerous. Bugsy always wears a life jacket, footwear with rock cleats, light clothing and keeps an eye on the swell, tide and wind to ensure the conditions are safest.

Hey mate, I fish on the north and south sides of the city. Mainly on the ocean ledges when the conditions are safe. All these ledges fish pretty well, all have great days here and there

Thank you, Sam. I highly recommend Alex Bellissimo as a fishing guide. He really knows his stuff and has all the experience required. Alex has a rock and beach fishing guiding business. Check him out. I don't do guiding. Actually, I've been quite sick so haven't been fishing at all lately. Looking forward to getting back out there soon

Man m looking to get my kids into some rock fishing but hesitant as it can get dangerous. Would you suggest any spots in particular that are a bit safer or with easier access to get them started? If definitely take all the precautions but looking to ease them in
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing 7 ай бұрын
Hi mate, yes rock fishing is definitely dangerous esp on the open ocean ledges. I suggest taking them to one of the points in Sydney Harbour sheltered from the swell and near (but not at) the heads. That way you get a safer option protected from waves plus plenty of pelagics at the moment
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing 7 ай бұрын
There are also options in the Hawkesbury river that are protected from the swell too

Awesome video mate! Li’s the one to go for all the jigging advise at this ledge haha. Try tying leader onto a solid ring, a lot faster later to change jigs from the split ring.

A few views on this. Shore jigging is probably a more appropriate term for what I was doing in this video. It all depends on your point of reference. Coming from using 300-400g jigs for dogtooth tuna, a 60g jig seems micro to me. Language continues to evolve, not fixed and I'm not held on it so call it what you want. Some references below for Australian and NZ views

Cheers Nick. I recently upgraded my rod to a Ocean's Legacy Specialist PE 2-4 9'8". Works really well. I use a Stradic 6000 SW, PE 3 Daiwa 12 strand braid and 40lb monofilament leader. Great set up for Sydney

How heavy should my rod be for jigging of the rocks?
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing 2 жыл бұрын
I think 10-15kg PE2-3 0r PE 2-4 is good for most applications in Sydney. If big kings are around then you might want to opt to go heavier

@@bugsyfishing Ok, I mainly fish in the Sydney harbor so is a Shimano Anarchy Shore spin 9ft 6-12kg with a Shimano Sustain 5000 a good combo?
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing 2 жыл бұрын
@@jzfishing103 If that's what you have I'm sure you can make it work. The weight sounds about right. A little extra length will make it easier to get a good action on the jig but I'm sure you can make it work with a 9' rod. It's just more work for your arms
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing 2 жыл бұрын

Cheers, this session I was using a Saragosa 6000 with PE2.5 Daiwa 12 strand braid and a Penn Prevail 2 9'6" 10-15kg rod and 40lb monofilament leader. I've recently upgraded to a Oceans Legacy Specialist PE2-4 9'8" rod and it has a better action for jigging from the stones
