Hi, this is my current watch and it is really superb. Radio controled, eco drive, waterproof 200m, and excellent readability. Its defects are the access to the timers and the alarm, and the weight, it would have deserved a titanium version. I love this watch so much is touch perfection. With a diameter of 42mm it seems larger, its luminescence is excellent.

Great watch! I love the promasters, especially their robust crown!Only minor gripe seconds hand does not glow in the dark, nor a luminous dot can be seen.

After gently wearing this watch (for example, never going swimming or even showering with it) for about a year and a half, I had to send it back to Citizen for servicing. Multiple functions were malfunctioning. I could not set the time accurately. And the crown wasn't closing properly. Although it came with a five-year warranty and I registered it at Citizen for an additional year, I had to pay almost $70 for the service, mainly to replace the crown and stem, a service not covered by the warranty. Also, I had to wait more than two months for the repair because needed parts were on back-order. When the watch finally arrived, I could still not set it to the right time and had to send it back for further inspection. I'm still waiting. The watch is very attractive. It looks (but seems not really to be) rugged. But I've come to believe that the "atomic" feature is mostly a gimmick. The watch itself has no atomic movement. That would probably be impossible. It has a regular quartz movement and a receiver that should (under the right geographical and meteorological conditions) automatically capture a radio signal from one of the U.S.-operated atomic clocks, allowing the watch to self-correct daily when necessary. If you need the absolutely precise time of day--perhaps you're a nuclear physicist----you could just go to www.time.gov, operated by the NIST. Sorry for spending too much time and space on this issue. Just frustrated. P.S.: Got the watch back (almost four months after initially sending it in). Time was wrong, but I accidentally found the right spot in my home to place the watch overnight. It successfully received the atomic clock signal and self-corrected. All's well that ends well, but be careful when you pull out the crown and stem. Apparently, they are delicate parts, easily bent.

It is not a traditional quartz movement. Hands are motorised, to make automatic adjustment possible. Radio control works fine on this watch. I must admit that these do fail, I’ve had one that had failing hands, not showing the exact time anymore. Not a really rugged movement.

Looking at the model - CB5921-59X.... Thinking of getting this as part of my 6 watch rotation / edc... I really appreciate the radio control, and my favorite color (green)... even though the one year reviewing is not the exact same one I'm looking at I'm assuming it's pretty much the same... Anyways, thanks for the video and your time 😎✌️

Personally, I value the great accuracy of quartz movements over mechanical movements. Better to have the second hand off by a degree or two than a mechanical watch being off by a few seconds every single day. Also, mechanical movements can be almost as misaligned, you just don't really see it because the second hand's sweeping motion masks any misalignment.

You can check the alignment of all the hands including the second hand and adjust, worth a punt… but I don’t know how fine the adjustment is though.
@e28forever303 жыл бұрын
Indeed, you can adjust them. My AS4041 ( basically the same watch, but the older model) is just a smidgen off , barely noticeable, and I cannot correct it, the adjustment is in rather big steps.

I have the earlier AS4041-O1L with blue dial. I love it! Both the case and the dial. Unfortunately it does not radio-sync in the US. In fact, I got it from a watch seller in Italy and he did not want to sell it to me because it would not function completely. But I assured him no problem since I love the look. Mine has a nicer, engraved case-back than this one. Came with a blue canvas strap, replaced with a black carbon-fibre style with blue stitching. I would like to see this new version in blue and I would get one for the total functionality. Might get the black anyway! I like the power reserve on the new one - my version does not have it. The lume is great, both color and brightness, but Citizen applied indices are brighter than painted. The hands on mine are noticeably brighter than the indices. Overall, based on my AS4041 I would recommend this newer version without hesitation. They are rock-solid! And yes, be prepared to consult the manual - haha! Setting it is not simple. Of course, it’s a perpetual calendar so won’t need much attention. One note, this radio-controlled Citizens use up charge more quickly than standard Eco-drives, so make it gets some direct sun on a fairly regular basis.

Why don’t they have a blue dial for this model?! 😭
@e28forever303 жыл бұрын
That’s great. I just picked up an AS4041, with a nice blue dial. It is basically the same watch, but the predecessor, on a canvas/leather strap with a deployment clasp. I need the bracelet, as I am more a bracelet kind of guy..😋 My caseback is rather nicely engraved, it’s a shame they dropped that. It is a great GADA watch, very readable and should last a long time.

I've been hoping for a review of this watch - many thanks for posting it and for pointing out the seconds hand alignment issue, the lack of a printed manual, and the plain-Jane caseback. Sadly, Citizen is starting to cut corners and it's showing.
@e28forever303 жыл бұрын
True. I recently picked up a brand new (old stock) AS4041, basically the same watch, but it is the predecessor. It has the same case and dial, except it has a full “3” without a cutoff. There is no power reserve meter on mine, and no indicator for the world time hours . But it has a rich blue dial, and a gorgeous caseback, with a deeply engraved globe and around it the lettering “Citizen Promaster EcoDrive”. This caseback is rather dull in comparison.

Is the 45mm diameter including, or not including the crown? Citizen have it down as 42mm.
@mariuszsch.79 Жыл бұрын
Without the crown I measured my one around 41mm actually. It is not as big as the specs make you think, but the lug to lug is long. 50mm. Still, they curve down so it looks good even on smaller wrists.

Model number of the watch appears only on the hang tag now. So you know the "calibre" and case number, but no way to discover most of the features, like sapphire crystal.

Split on this or the JDM Promaster Land titanium. I think if this was Titanium it would be an easier buy.

Can this watch show accurate time in India? I do not see any Indian city listed on the dial. Nearest are Karachi (KHI) at GMT +5 and Dhaka (BST) at GMT +6. Indian Standard Time is GMT +5.5 Does that mean this watch is useless in India?
@maverickwatchreviews4 ай бұрын
I'm afraid so. India, Africa, South America, Russia & Austraila are too far away to receive the signal. Here's a great Citizen site that explains it all: www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/technology-atomic-timekeeping.html
