Had the same problem with a Honda CRV idtec. P049b code I did unmount the DPF, brought it to a DPF cleaning garage. It was inspected by camera, it was absolutely not broken. Moreover, a pression test is made before the cleaning and after. A defective DPF would be fastly detected in the machine. Made it cleaned, replaced the EGB b filter full of carbon and creating the defect. 20000km after, the problem came back. After some research, I found the problem was caused by totally detective injectors. Changed them and now, no more problems. They where checked on a ramp, 2 ones had twice the diesel back values. I've read that brand new Renault DCI have the same issue with injectors creating heavy smoke and bloking the EGR b filter. Changing the DPF will solve the problem for some thousands kilometers but the real issue is the bad injection causing a lot of dust in the system.

The DPF / EGR is just a symptom right ? There must be a fault that is causing the DPF to clog. Short miles could cause it but also bad injectors, dodgy turbo or blocked air intake, basically anything that causes it to run rich.

JLR needs to stop making engines full stop and just buy them in from a more reliable manufacturer its beyond their capability, and just stick to the desgin side of the business yes it will cost more to make them but people will pay the price as long as the car looks pretty, which they do look nice but the mechanics side is beyond their scope... they are well knows for egr dpf chain turbos cranks etc.... even are low miles which is a complete joke as you say your van has done silly miles and still has the original dpf so it just goes to show its not the dpf thats the problem is the design of them which jlr struggle with

I concur, my 2017 XF had only done 72k miles when the engine blew up, needing a total of 11grand to rebuild. The ingenium engine is complete shyte.

There’s over half a million vehicles on the road with the Ingenium engine. They haven’t all failed. There are some specific issues with the 2106-19 Disco Sport. However the reality is the cast majority of failures on these have 2 common components. They are used mostly on short runs in urban settings. The owners don’t maintain them particularly well & in a lot of cases the oil doesn’t get changed until the service indicator appears on the dash. By that stage the internal components of the engine are already stressed. There are lots of drivers who use them properly & change the oil frequently & have had no issues

2016 disco sport already had brand new genuine Dpf and pressure sensor and new low pressure EGR filter gauze. Still getting same code back after approx 250 miles. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!
