Terrific guide. Amazes me how many of these "guides" just show somebody yanking the headliner out, bending and twisting it, and totally mangling it in the process. Great to see a guide that shows how to remove the A, B and C pillar trims properly.

$1000???!!! That’s a rip off. Fully undo the shell yourself, keep it tied in place in each corner and the middle, drive it over to an upholsterer, drop it off, have them do it, and do it reverse when ready. I just did it yesterday, $180.

Removed the sagging old headliner material from my d2 and just spray painted the clean bare headliner board matt black. Looks pretty darn good. I was just worried it would sag and get battered again on our farm in Texas.

Great video! it certainly is easier in the hot hot climates. My headliner required me to remove the layer between the headliner material and the fiber board, kind of a Mix of glue and a thin material... guess the pacific NW doesn’t get hot enough to make it as easy as this showed. Great job guys and thanks for the reminder of the width.

Dang Nice! My 2002 D2 been sitting on backyard for several years now hate to sell it. I'm trying to fix it myself little by little and also headliner is sagin. Came across this video how easy it is to take it out. Thanks for the info.

Watching that old foam disintegrate when you took the power brush to it was so satisfying For anyone watching, I'd definitely avoid spraying an entire half of your headliner before installing it. Once you lay it back over, it will stick as soon as it touches anything, which is an absolute nightmare. Start from the middle and spray in small, manageable sections. Work outward and make sure there are no creases BEFORE gluing anything.

Thank you for the video ! I’m in the process of doing my 2004 discovery 2 and helps so much ! If I may had, the second roof top and the nets are not explain… in my 2004, the consol have a phillips to unsecrew and the nets need to be remove only after the roof it out of the car!! They have bolts in the back… so second roof top console you unscrew one phillip inside after taking the light out and that’s it. Leave the console and the nets and remove them after it’s out of your car 😊

My rear.console was broken someone before didn't know the tabs have nuts on them and rhey ended gluing the whole thing back up. I found out as the motor was grinding and that too wasn't installed just held by a deck screw. But now that is out I'll be tackling this. Thx for theb04 info that's what I have 04 HSE.

You can pull the top elastic band and stretch it. Tie a knot when it’s tight and cut the excess off.

Great video and some good work. Can you let me know what the brush head is called on the grinder. That looks like a must have accessory. I'm in the UK and no matter what I search for online I can't find anything like it. Keep up the great work 👍👍

Dis you find out what the brush is called. I have used a wire cup brush on a few Discovery 1 but it is way too brutal

It’s called shale it’s between tan and gray. Any upholstery supplier should have it.

You can get the proper foam-backed fabric at JoAnn Fabrics. It's very inexpensive. I did the headliner on a Mercedes SL hardtop and the fabric cost me like twelve bucks. The disco headliner is much bigger so it'll probably cost maybe $40 total. To be honest you don't even need the foam-backed fabric either, if you want to get creative. When I eventually do my disco headliner, I'm going to go with a plaid.

@@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg Great work and video is excellent. At then end, it was mentioned that roof can also be painted or sprayed with bed liner instead of having cloth fabric. Since the paint smell would eventually go away, would you reconsider alternative painting solutions instead of fabric (since paint could last longer.) And did you notice any water leaks from the roof that could have contributed to the sagging? Thank you continued Blessings
