G'day out there
In this weeks video you will see us prepare our Land Rover Defender and Four Wheel Camper for international shipping to Australia.
Australia has the strictest quarantine and customs regulations in the world so this a huge task.
We are doing all of this during one of the longest and most severe wet seasons on record in Japan.
Join us during this stressful period and decide for yourself if it's all worth it...
If you enjoy our videos and if you would like to support our work, we have a PATREON account.
Become a PATRON and be part of the adventure.
Thank you very much.

What a mission, well done for getting everything sorted and then sorted again after your flights were cancelled. I have shipped household effects into Australia a few times and it is always a nervous time trying to get everything right for customs and quarantine inspection. Will be great to see you guys in Australia for a while, plenty of space for adventures and travel as you know.

As I’m sure you know, you have to weigh the cost savings of using RO/RO vs using a container and getting to keep all your stuff in your vehicle. If you have a lot of expensive gear to ship, it’s usually cheaper to use a shared container. Alternatively you can go RO/RO and then ship your equipment via a cube. My experience is the container ends up cheaper
@leighdearle5965
@leighdearle5965 3 жыл бұрын
We would of used a container but like we mentioned in the video the crazy Japanese customs regulations state that the vehicle must be empty even if in a container 😔 Unless every item is listed on our Carnet which it isn't as we entered Japan with no Carnet. We wouldn't of had every personal item listed on the vehicle Carnet anyway. That's why we chose RORO to save a lot of money and sent a few boxes ahead via a courier.
@jdenmark1287
@jdenmark1287 3 жыл бұрын
Leigh Dearle wow that’s a strange regulation. I never have shipped from Japan and had no idea of that. Your vlog on border crossings summarize international travel with vehicles and goods quite well....it’s basically like going back in time to the medieval world of official corruption and bribery. Governed by capris, whims, and arbitrary authoritarianism.

Well this is certainly a surprise! It’s madness in Oz with the border closures and different rules for each. It might take you 6 weeks just to cross borders to get to WA. Be very cautious in Sydney and the hotspots. Stay out of Victoria for a while. NSW country is ok to travel in at the moment. The fact that you are landing in Sydney will jeopardise your travel plans. It’s a pity that you couldn’t get your vehicle to Brisbane first. Anyway, you guys are great planners so enjoy your flights. Welcome back soon for a while at least.
