You can rig it so that the proper light comes on, there's a way to splice it across somehow. If you want the proper diff lock light you either do a bit of a wiring mod, or, you replace the main loom with one that has the proper diff lock loom with it.
@connorhesketh5327 Жыл бұрын
Do you have to replace the whole gearbox loom or does the transfer have its own separate loom? I’m looking on doing the swap but I definitely want the light to be on the dash
@mccourtmets2 жыл бұрын
D2 uses a hi lo switch which defender lt230 doesnt have. You can fit a manual override or take the output housing off the defender box and fit to the D2 box.

If you hadn’t of had to put the 1.4 box in would the diff lever of worked without the base plate with the lever bolted to the cover with the rivets in?
@Jakesoverlandadventures2 жыл бұрын
No as it still needs a attachment to the gearbox. Still even with the correct cast attachment you will still need to modify the top plate for a diff lock lever. Hope that makes sense

I'm not sure what you've tried before, you must have mentioned somewhere, but did you try the shuttle valve bypass (option B)? I'd the dreaded 3 amigos and did the bypass. Probably took half an hour and traction control, abs and hill decent all work perfectly. Very impressive actually. I'll probably still upgrade the center diff though. You'll still only have one wheel drive front and rear now. Look at ashcroft torque bias differential instead of full blown lockers. Overall probably more useful than lockers. And a lot cheaper and easier to fit.
@JimBiddle. Жыл бұрын
I'm told I have an Ashcroft in my CDL, any ideas how I can check it?
@Dead_Albatross Жыл бұрын
@@JimBiddle. It depends what you mean by that. Ashcroft, as a company, do loads of great parts and services. Does your center diff lock? The locking cone might be an Ashcroft part, the whole box might have been rebuilt by them, or it might have an Ashcroft torque bias differential in it. Or all of the above. You'd be able to figure most of this out with the car on axel stands.
@JimBiddle. Жыл бұрын
@@Dead_Albatross I'll see if I can jack a couple of wheels up. I was told it had a limited slip center diff lock. He may have said Ashcroft, I can't be sure, but I have only found them made by Ashcroft. To be fair, everything else he's said has been 100%, AMC head, all the underbody protection, snorkel, winch split charge cb, the list goes on. I think I'd prefer a CDL that I can lock myself, should I blow a driveshaft? Thinking an electronic diff lock on the back, them limited on the front. Welcome any thoughts you have, thanks.
