Nicely done(pretty expensive tho)!Except from the weight loss,with the steel ones,you might also gain some height from the tyres.Narrower rims make them ''expand" in height(the measuring rim width for your tyres is 6.5')'.Also you can fell safer when you air them down than with the 8''.

Thanks for sharing. I’ll get a set of those for my 2002 D2. Here my misadventures trying to find a solution: Few years back I was able to get one P38 spare tire from England, the last one I believe 😢 Then I bought 4 Terrafirma steel wheels, but they were sticking out and rubbing on the outside of the wheel wells at each bump. I went back to the original alloy 18” wheels with 265/70 KO2 tires. I have a 3” lift and they work perfect, but I would prefer the right size steel wheels. Thanks again for the info.

Wolf style wheels :-). I love the fact that this name came from Wheel on Left Fender for the military Defenders.
@fitzventure3 жыл бұрын
That’s an awesome fact. Never heard that before.
@Jabber-ig3iw2 жыл бұрын
Not true, wheel on left Flank (fender isn’t really a term used in Britain) is a myth. It actually comes from the design team, during a meeting one of the team said ‘ if we aren’t careful this project will bite us on the arse’ the response was ‘well we had better call it Wolf then’ Wolf became the project name, but was never officially called that by the armed forces, although informally it was called that by soldiers.
@GavinEarnshaw2 жыл бұрын
@@Jabber-ig3iw thanks for that. I was told the left flank/fender thing by one of the workers on the defender line when they were just coming out. We (a Land Rover club) went on the factory tour back in the day and noticed these slightly different 110s so asked. I don't think they were even publicly announced at that time. It is always interesting to hear the different origin stories. Like the bonnet bulge on the ford engine defender. The story I was told by a LR engineer was that Ford wouldn't allow a new structural sump to be designed as it would cost too much. So the solution was to mount it higher, needing the bonnet bulge. The fact they had to raise the centre line of the wider 6 speed gearbox meant bulkhead and floorpan changes.

Great video. I wonder if there is a similar steel wheel hack for D1s/RRC? I would like wolf wheels but they are really expensive. Something like a Honda steelie that looked like a wolf wheel would be cheap as chips from the wreckers. So, any tips out there?? 🤔

It's been a while, but from what I remember, there are many more wheel options for the D1. Not sure of any off-hand but I would ask around in the Disco forums.

Why didn't you buy the wolf steel wheels? I just bought some genuine steel wheels Wolfe Nato rims for my Range rover classic.. Seems like it would have been the same price, and the steel wheels have a higher weight rating.. Which is most important when your vehicle will often have most of the weight on 2 of the wheels in off camber situations no Honda Odessey will likely experience. i guess it will work maybe inspect them carefully after 10k miles. Also the steel wheels I bought have the bead area enhanced for low tire pressures. It does look better in the thinner wheels, what it looked like before was a 4x4 with giant tires for visual effect.. They went across Africa in Land rovers with tires very similar, tall and skinny has lots of advantages.

Getting Wolf wheels for a Discovery 2 in the US is not possible. I tried everywhere. Just can't get them. The Honda wheels have held up well in some very hard off-roading and seem to be fine. The GVWR of the Honda is the same as the Disco. Wolf wheels would probably be better though.

@fitzventure3 жыл бұрын
That is a great size and I considered it. But, the diameter on those is even larger than the 285/75's. I already have a 2 inch lift, but would probably have to go 3 to fit those. The other thing is, there are very few tire choices in that size for some reason.
