Another top video. It's great you take the time to video every step in real time . I've watched loads of other people's videos and yours are the best by far . Keep up the great work guys .

I just used Brembos from a RR Sport. Even bigger than these and far cheaper from a breakers. The callipers/pads are bigger too! You must have 19” wheel and above to fit as the calippers are too big to fit with 18” rims and below. You will see/feel the difference...

Hi Roger - did you do this upgrade on a Disco 3 or D4 ? Did you fit the 4 pot Brembos or the 6 pots ? I hear that the 6 pot Brembos will fit !! ( sourced from the newer Range Rover models )
@rogerspencer65385 жыл бұрын
powerfulukltd Hi It was my D3, with the 4 pot callipers. I rang round looking for a RRS of the same age as the two vehicles share a lot of parts. A really easy swop over. You can’t keep the tin splash guards though as the new bits are a lot bigger, When the wheels go back on you have a “fag paper” gap between the rim spokes & callipers. Result is the best stopping D3 possible, useful if tuning or heavy towing...

@@rogerspencer6538 Did these RRS Supercharged calipers bolt straight onto your LR3 steering knuckle or did you need some type of adapter? In addition did you have to use RRS Supercharged brake hoses and wear sensor? I guess if you wanted backing plates you could use some from the RRS Supercharged as well. Thanks.

Ross White Hi They are a direct fit, brake hoses & the ware indicator cable remained unchanged..

The brake pads themselves have to be fitted with the correct orientation, too. The chamfers are at the top.
@L6634 жыл бұрын
Hi - i think these are chambered at both ends if you look - but you are correct that may not be the case on all pads.

Would have liked to have seen the very last step - the connection of the brake fluid line to the caliper! Otherwise a pretty good instructional video

Didn't see a torque wrench deployed on those brake bolts. With the big carrier bolts, do you just "wind 'em up tight" with the breaker bar?
@L6635 жыл бұрын
Our torque wrench like most "standard" ones only goes to 200NM so we hae gone for breaker bar tight, plus a bit.

Thanks for this video. Very helpful, as are all the others you make. Always had good service from you on the parts I've bought, too. When it comes to these disc upgrades, do all four wheels need to be done, or would it be acceptable to put the larger drilled and grooved discs just on the front to begin with?
@simonjefferson4 жыл бұрын
of course "modifying" your car from standard is a scary thing... so any advice is just my idea...front brakes do most of the braking so this mod will improve your braking. I cant see its going to wildly shift the brake bias as the rear discs are pretty powerful and also the ABS will start to kick in any wheels lock up....which i cant see happening. I think more dangerous are old brakes in poor condition etc.

How do you get to the back of the disk screw to WD40 it? I ended up twisting a T50 torx impact bit trying to undo that screw. Waiting for more to arrive in the meantime. I still haven't got it off.
@L6634 жыл бұрын
Hi - there is room to get in behind the disk - though this is a common problem. If you are changing the disk you can put a cutting disk carefully through the center of the torx bolt to form a slot then use a flat blade impact driver. The heat from the grinding also helps to loosen the bolt. Having said that if you still have a grip on the bolt you are in with a chance of doing it with the impact driver.

We purchased new brake calipers and sliders and painted them so this was easy. We also have a spray booth we have just installed so this also helps... not sure how a more DIY approach would work.

Will OEM D3 alloys fit over these ok?

Depends on size of the alloy.. they made several sizes of OE alloy 18" no 19" probably no 20" OK

Hi when you say left and right hand side are you sat in the car or looking at the car? Might be easier to say drivers or passenger side. Great videos, keep up the good work!
@L6634 жыл бұрын
The flaw in your cunning plan is that in some countries they drive on the RH and some on the LH... so driver will change ! The car has a front and back... the left side of the car is always on the left when the front is at the front....i.e. sat in the car.

If the brake pads are the smaller size then the contact area will be the same as using the smaller disc.....why then bother?
