I’ve just bought a 1995 300 TDI only 124000 k . One owner never been off roaded it’s mint condition always been garaged except last few years . The motor is strong and plenty of grunt for what I want to do . I just cruise around ,l love how high up I’m seated excellent for touring

I took a tip and use grease instead of oil on the filter seal and it doesn't come loose in service.

Looking under a Land Rover for oil leaks, Just love it when you said "no crazy oil leaks there". That sound pretty well sealed up for a Landy! I do love Land Rovers and looking forward to hearing about the things you have done to yours in a future video. Like all your gear it looks well looked after and loved. Wishing you a great Christmas and every good blessing for the new year. Dave.

Thanks Dave!! I’m always chasing a leak somewhere that’s for sure, but like they say, if there’s no oil under them, there’s none in them 😂, Merry Xmas to you too👍🏻

@@RustedIronRanch British built, "Dirty on the outside. Clean on the inside" is what I say. Yesterday I picked up a Ferguson FE 35 petrol, grey gold non runner. Hope to rebuild the engine, paint and sell. It has been painted Red and grey decades ago and is an abandoned project. My first tractor from the MF stable. Dave.

Yes they are spotless on the inside! Nice one! I believe some grey+gold FE35s were painted red+grey at the dealership in order to sell them once Massey bought them. Should be a good tractor 👍🏻

Emotional attachment will be my biggest issue with the FE35

I think you will have to keep it 👍🏻😂

Hey mate have the opportunity to buy a well looked after disco 1 300tdi, would you recommend?
@edwardnsubuga6133 жыл бұрын
This seems a well maintained disco basing on the mileage i've seen on on the clock!. Advise me please where to get such wide wind deflectors,i like them.
@RustedIronRanch3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, it is well maintained although it’s currently dead, no longer using a daily driver and will keep and fix at a later date. The deflectors were on it when I got it and I really like them as well, so not sure where you could get them. Thanks for watching!
@edwardnsubuga6133 жыл бұрын
@@RustedIronRanch , Thanks for getting back to me, sorry that it's down at the moment!. I thought you had put the deflectors your self, don't you have any hits of how to find them or any compatibility?.
@RustedIronRanch3 жыл бұрын
All good mate, doing a quick search I can only find the thin deflectors, maybe they were a local company that no longer sells them, not sure, sorry I don’t know more, good luck with your search though! 👍🏻

How have you found the Disco 1? I’m in the market for buying one in South Africa. My friends and I have always had a great love for the old landies. Always loved the tD5’s and 300tDi’s in the defenders. Are they just as reliable in the discos?
@RustedIronRanch3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, it’s been a good car although you have to love working on them because it can be never ending! Currently this ones down with suspected cracked block which isn’t common although will be a fair effort to fix. I’d say a well maintained one will be just as reliable in a disco although with more comfort. I haven’t had a great run out of the 300tdi although a lot of people do. I hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

Hello Mr I'm asking if you can Chang the TDI engine with Toyota 1hz or 1hd t ?
@RustedIronRanch2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, I have thought about this before actually, although I think the 4.2 6 cylinder may be too long. Would be a great car with the Toyota engine though. 👍🏻

Did you plumb in another fuel filter + original housing as a pre filter?
@RustedIronRanch3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I did! Currently only running the same micron filter although I still want to find another finer suitable filter. 👍🏻
@seekingaus51963 жыл бұрын
@@RustedIronRanch Anyway I'd be able to get a heads up when you do? Would like to run the same in my D1 300Tdi.
@RustedIronRanch3 жыл бұрын
Im still on the look out for a suitable filter, I’ll be sure to update when I do👍🏻

Are these reliable? Able to tow a car with this engine? We only got the awful v8 in the states.
@RustedIronRanch3 жыл бұрын
They can be reliable if maintained, although mine is down again with a head gasket. I wouldn't tow big weights around with it, they are a pretty slow . Biggest thing is to keep them cool so depending on your climate that'd be something to watch. The V8 is not bad, just has to be maintained. A lot of people seem to buy them and do no servicing, which I believe may be attributable to the amount of issues they have. Thanks
