Awesome video!!! My 200 went into limp mode (No 5th or 6th gear and reduced power) whilst returning from a recent trip. My mechanic couldn't find a fault code. After watching this video I sourced a new filter and 4mm vacuum hose and got to work. 2hrs later all fixed. Can't thank you enough.🙏

Great video as always mate 🤙 I used to have a paper Haynes manual for all my cars in the old days, you are my go to for the 200. Cheers 🍻

Good video, We replaced our MAF sensor while trying to chase excessive smoke, made little difference might try the MAP sensor or just replace it

Never heard of a MAP sensor needing cleaning before. What is your train of thought/rationale with cleaning this one? Was there any residue on the MAP sensor tubing (ie if you insert a toothpick)? Did you have a chance to see if the manifold port connection for the vacuum line was obstructed by carbon? The only failure mode i can think of is the line or port gumming up - not the sensor itself. well done with the video
@austimages3 жыл бұрын
Mine was actually fine, however I have heard of other 200s where the map sensor has given incorrect readings due to the filter being blocked or failing. Thought best to clean it since it was off for the filter change anyway.
@OzBoating3 жыл бұрын
@@austimages excellent. Did you have any photos videos from your manifold clean that shows where the MAP line connects to the manifold? That would be most interesting to see. A blockage between the manifold and sensor would manifest as laggy reading. A leak would also over or under report depending on manifold pressure relative to ATM. FYI The sensor could be tested with a syringe and high accuracy gauge sitting alongside the OBD scantool. Also, did i see a split in the line connecting to the manifold side of the MAP filter? great video as already mentioned

Hello, first thank you for the interesting video. Do you know if this tiny gaz filter before the MAP sensor exist in other cars but Toyota's ? Could it be replaced by any standard gaz filter? Thank you.

Great post mate How many km’s would you expect to have to do this
@austimages3 жыл бұрын
The MAF sensor should be done every service. The MAP sensor and filter isn't required as often. I've done mine twice in 180,000km.

Any reason you can't move the MAP filter to the side of the intercooler? Is the length of run in the hose critical?
@austimages4 ай бұрын
No, you could move it. Not something that needs to be changed regularly though. I only changed it once in 8 years.

Do you recommend cleaning of MAP filter and secondly for an healthy Filter it passes air in both directions or only in one direction? Thanks.

@austimages2 жыл бұрын
Diff oil should be changed about every 40,000km. So that would be a good starting point.

Like how the land cruiser 300 series is out what do you think of it and if the 200 series uses two batteries why can't the Prado use two instead of one
@austimages3 жыл бұрын
I'll reserve judgement until I've driven one, but I like the specs of the LC300. The Prado can use two start batteries if you want to, but there's no need. Current LC200s only have a single start battery, and I've split mine too into a single start battery and an auxiliary battery.

Hey great channel which I just discovered in searching for solutions to my reasonably sudden loss of power in my 2014 Altitude cruiser 200. So I take the intercooler off this morning after having watched you vid about 3 times first and lo and behold, I have no vacuum pipe coming off the MAP sensor and the filter isn't even there! Has anyone ever seen this before? I took the belly pans off and have had a thorough look in behind and can't see the missing item. How weird is that?
@seismic1602 жыл бұрын
Also. When I spray the MAF cleaner down the tube on the sensor where the vacuum hose connects. It just comes back out at me. It does not go through like yours does in the video.
@austimages2 жыл бұрын
@@seismic160 It won't go through. Must just be an illusion in the video.

@@austimages Ah ok thanks for that, was just about to blow air down there. I won't do that then. I reckon the people who did my diesel retuning(Ultimate Diesel tuning) either took the filter out or it was never there from the start. There is another bolt missing from the back there too
