Landing the Viper with NO FUEL | DCS World

So I tried the Viper and mistakes were made, found myself RTB on fumes then the engine died!

I’ve never flown the F-16 in DCS. So far I’ve only flown the F/A-18C. This is off topic from this video, but I noticed the altitude tape on the HUD in the F-16. I really like the way that the F-16 HUD displays your current altitude and your climb/descent rate by showing the current altitude on a scrolling altitude tape, which represents your climb or descent rate. The F/A-18 doesn’t have a scrolling altitude tape. It just has your current altitude in a box and then right above or below the current altitude it shows a number with a plus or minus indicating your current climb or descent rate. The plus or minus number changes real-time as your climb or descent rate changes, but it’s not nearly as easy to visualize and quickly comprehend as the strolling altitude tape in the F-16. The faster or slower the altitude tape is scrolling, your mind immediately comprehends what that means. Especially when there are dozens of different numbers and symbols on the HUD, in high pressure situations like landings and during intense combat, you really can’t miss that scrolling altitude tape, especially if it starts scrolling faster. In contrast, in the F/A-18 it’s easy to get distracted and not notice that the climb/descent rate number has started increasing or decreasing quickly. When your in the pattern coming in for a carrier landing with a nice steady descent rate of 700 feet per minute, and your eyes move away from the descent rate for just a few seconds and next thing you know, you’re descending at 2,500 foot a minute. With the scrolling altitude tape, I would think that you would see the tape begin to scroll a lot faster, even in your peripheral vision. ‘

At high enough altitudes you're not even limited by glide range but EPU fuel😅

Man. I'm used to civilian planes. These high wing loading fighters are like bricks in comparison when gliding. Could've glided for 30 nm with the starting energy state in an airliner.
