Good Video bro thanks. For those that speak Australian to take your speedo cluster out you need to start with believe it or not the centre console removal - 2 screws in compartment base. Then the centre section around the gear shift removal- 2 screws where the centre console section lapped over the centre gear shift section, one behind removed ash tray, then 2 each side near dash - You need to remove glove box stoppers clips to drop glove box to see them passenger side, you need to take panel off under steering wheel all clipped on other then one screw in coin tray on drivers side. Once all that crap is out the way you can remove the 2 srews under the vents that stop you pulling out that plastic speedo / vent surround, remove 2 switches either side of steering wheel and there is two screws in the holes that need to come out as well. That leaves 2 over the speedo that are not hidden - needs stubby screwdriver. Pull surround out of the way or unclip switch wires for complete removal. That leaves the speedo cluster exposed. There is 4 screws holding that in. There is three wiring plugs that are on top that unclip allowing removal. Happy days. Its a shame Honda designed it so the whole console needed to come out to get to 2 screws under those vents. FYI I took my speedo out so as to remove the SRS Light that showed all the time. The error code showed passenger airbag even though it hasn't got one. It turned out to be a resistor module that Honda wanted $850 to fit after $200 to find the fault. As this car is worth $1000 it was easier to remove the globe and not worry about the air bag.

Hey Andrew, I saw a writeup on one of the Honda forums that also describes having to remove the entire console and glove box in order to remove the instrument cluster. But I don't understand why Honda would have designed it in such a way. Why is all that necessary when Landon's video here shows a much simpler operation. BTW, thanks for a great video Landon!

Thank you for this video. I actually need to replace my whole speedometer cluster as it stopped working and now even the tach is acting all crazy. I was using the tach as a guide for my speed. It looks simple enough but I might have to have someone that is a bit more agile replace it for me...

Speed Sensor is usually the cause for your issue. The thing typically cause speedo to bounce around. Tach - I have heard a loose solder joint on instrument cluster...but I can't confirm that - I would suspect a sensor in engine compartment - yo know where coolant and oil spills by the distributor ..

The transmission illumination, each position like park or d4 has its own bulb? Or is it just all 1 bulb for transmission display?

I bought some Aftermarket White gauges that glows Green at night for my 97 Accord EX. I need to remove the OEM gauges to install them, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Thanks for the slow and simple easy instructions in this video, it's helpful.

It's important to know, once you pull it one time you want have to pull the cd out anymore ,leaving a few screws out will cut your time in half or MORE!!!

Hey Landon, great video, looks pretty straightforward. I'm hoping I don't have to go to any greater lengths, but am wondering how the instrument gauge needle lights are replaced. *I haven't checked fuses yet, but am assuming the needles would be on the same fuse as the backlight the numbers/lines is on. They have all stopped working in my mom's manual '95 Accord LX and I'd like to get this fixed for her without having to spend hundreds of dollars to do so. I've replaced bulbs in instrument clusters other cars before, but was unsure which bulbs that you replaced were.
@landonhillyard7 жыл бұрын
Benjamin Norton hey Benjamin. The lights for the needles are back there as well. They should be very easy to replace once you have the cluster out.
