I found you from searching for a Deco X20 vs X60 comparison and watched your X60 vs X90 video. Great review again! You got yourself another subscriber. I purchased this a few months ago when I was testing out multiple standalone routers. I ran tests with my laptop and multiple desktops in scenarios utilizing LAG, Wi-Fi range, stability and speeds as well as with and without my VPN connected. When connecting to any VPN server and using different protocols, the upload speeds were horrendous with this router. 300Mbps download/upload dropped to ~280Mbps download/~16Mbps upload. I returned it immediately but this was my experience. Keep up the amazing content.

Best review! One queston - better to setup two deco x20 or this router + RE505X. Cannot find any compare for those two setups. It seems that both are mesh capable.
@landpet2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I prefer mesh systems if you need more than one. X20 is great for wired backhaul and ok for wireless backhaul. XE75 is better for wireless backhaul and not too much more than the X20

i have a question lately my router is not giving me good speed for online games and i always end up disconnecting so i wanted to ask what is the best and most affordable router for home use. I'd appreciate some feed back thank you
@happytrails19633 жыл бұрын
Was indecision for this router. Seem very nice but at $165 online pricing didn't think speed boost would be worth cost increase over AX55 at $110. Was able to get 700mbps for the speedtest and thinking maybe not get much more if go up to the AX73 at 30% more cost. Very pleased to replace 8yr old tplink router that was ancient but definitely got money worth from it. Regular size house here and no issues with AX55. So easy to setup only took couple minutes. Some say AX3000 runs hot but been checking it and so far not issues.
@landpet3 жыл бұрын
I'm testing the AX55 now actually and so far so good. It doesn't get hot. It's definitely a good choice considering the price.

@@landpet Very good to hear, looking forward review. For me its difficult to find reviews. Not really know what difference is between AX50, AX55 or AX73 except maybe chipset? Its not something I would upgrade often so was just hoping for good value. 700mbps seem as fast as tmobile stove pipe performs here and maybe I reach potential with these routers so very pleased.
@landpet3 жыл бұрын
@@happytrails1963 It's really mostly the speed rating, depending how fast your internet is the faster speed rating routers like the AX73 can go a bit faster but I don't think there's going to be enough of a difference to warrant an upgrade. It all just depends on the user, if you're happy with your speeds, then you're good.

In AP mode it does not cut any bandwidth from my 1Gbps up/down ISP link, I'm getting ~940mbps up/down on both cable connection and wifi 6 (Lenovo P53 laptop). The wired router I'm using is MikroTik RB750GR3 for 70EUR and this is the cheapest setup I've found so far to handle 1Gbps ISP connection over wifi 6 (RB750GR3 + AX73 in AP mode)

Hey, I just bought this device and it says on the back the model is Archer AX73(EU) Ver:1.0. Do you know if there is a newer version of this router? I would not want to miss out on some functionality due to ordering an older version of the device in case a newer one has been released.

Not a direct replacement that I'm aware of. There is a faster version of it that's really one level higher. Archer AX90

@VV-wl8gb Жыл бұрын
Great review, thank you! If I understand correctly, local network test test only the AP and switch capabilities since the unit does no internet routing. Both of these things have dedicated hardware accelerators and the CPU is largely untaxed. The big jump in speeds might indicate that the router's CPU is the bottleneck when it comes to 1gig Internet connections. Still a fantastic machine for anything below that.

Thanks! I do local tests mostly to not rely on my ISP or public speed test server.

Thanks. Great video. Love my router, but since I got my new iPad Pro 2022 I am noticing a drop in speed. (I have heard that it is not as good.). Thinking about the new Wifi 6e whatever routers now. Unless they do an update that fixes it. But yes, I am glad I saw your video because I switched up from 500 to 1000 and indeed, definitely I only get around 500 for router still. Time to upgrade maybe (though that is already plenty fast.). Agree with range. GREAT range for me, and no drops at all. Thanks again.
@landpet2 жыл бұрын
No problem! I have almost gigabit Internet speeds and with most of the mesh systems when I do an internet speed test on the device themselves, they typically range from the 500 to 800Mbps range with the most common being around 650ish. Lots of things matter, not just the router. You can start looking if the device itself is a 2x2 MIMO vs a 4x4 MIMO, can the router handle 4x4 MIMO, how far is it from the router, are there walls, are there other devices using the internet at the same time?

Almost all the routers and mesh WiFi’s I test give me full speeds, really no point in announcing those numbers anymore. Most of these support at least gigabit speeds and they deliver. Some are faster but generally speaking it can reach those speeds within the network and up to those speeds based on your ISP speeds. I am referring to Ethernet

Hi Landpet! Great Review! On previous TP-Link Ax routers like the AX6000 there were QOS issues, specifically the inability disable QOS settings. Do you know if this issue is still an issue on the AX73 as well? Thanks!
@landpet3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I didn't get any QOS issues while I had it running, no issues whatsoever on this. I didn't try to disable it though, just ran it on its default mode. That's part of my testing is to see if I do need to go and switch settings for it to work, with this, it was just a matter of setup your wifi, guest network and it worked. I played with a few options but QoS was not part of that list.
