Great stuff and amazing photos... Still there is something that I think you forgot to mention and that is to disengage any stabilisation system whether attached to the lens or to the sensor or both whenever making a tripod assisted long shutter photography. Otherwise shooting long exposures with any stabilisation system being active will result in less sharp images due to the compensation mechanism of the system

Along with needing a tripod what about adding weight to it, especially when using a large lens like a 70-200. I noticed you use a caribiner to attached a pack to your tripod which helps dampen camera vibrations. I also liked that you will use a smaller aperature than f11 if that is what is needed to get the shot. Some of my lenses are still quite sharp at f16/f18, so it's always good to know one's equipment.

@@07087joenj in order to help alleviate a shaking tripod, ensure you hang some weight off the tripod hook. Your camera bag loaded with hear works perfectly for this. Add's additional stability to the tripod. Not going to help much if the wind is blowing hard, but it does help. Also try not to walk near the tripod when shooting long exposures. Set it and keep out of the way, especially if on sandy beaches. :)

As always, a great video, ever inspiring. Thank you for the content you produce and share. I am amazed you didn't get an oblong trail with the sun on your 389 second long exposure. Last time I did a 300 second long exposure with the sun in the shot the sun turned into more of an oblong shape than a circle. Now I blend a fast shutter shot with a long exposure to get a cleaner picture of the sun in my long exposure shot.

That is good advice about the aperture. I always used the tightest one on the camera for landscape for fear of something in the foreground or background getting out of focus.

Hello Attilio they were super beautiful photos and I used many of your tips to take sharp photos in London Thames yesterday.They were good but not as great as your's.Nevertheless practise makes perfect and i will keep trying.Can you please do a full tutorial of taking full advantage of the remote shutter release device eg for using it instead of the 2 sec shutter release in the camera,how to take multiple shots,how to use it to take a single photo lasting more than 1 minute in bulb mode,and finally the time lapse.thanks for inspiring us.

There is a tool you might like for setting up your videos. The Osmo Pocket. You could get yourself a small mounting bar to support the microphone behind the very small Osmo or use a lav. This camera is gimbaled, 4k, and has tracking, and face tracking. This is so small it fits completely in your fist. This would enable you a bit more freedom around your tripod to move more fluidly. It shoots time laps also and motor panning as well during time lapse so there might be times you would like to show your setting up. You can view your framing on phone or monitor. You can also tell the camera to frame you on the tight side or the left. Sorry about the security police, I’m sure it was strategically imperative that the beach on the lake be on lock down.

Wonderful tips especially, 4th and 5th are new to me. I always have a great struggle with a 10 stop ND filter. I'm using a Nikon D 7200. since I can't go lower than ISO100, i have a struggle with long exposure in the daytime. would u pls give me some tips?
