Today I return to the landscape after a few weeks off. As an incentive, I decided to head out with a very simple set up to help me focus on a familiar location.

I love your videos, I think you regularly take a simple approach but one that comes with many years of experience and learning. I must say that you had some fantastic shots especially those with the grasses in the foreground. Your composition is always so well thought out and works so well. I'm learning to enjoy limiting myself to one lens and realising it really makes you think and a great learning tool.

I used a Rolleicord Va with the Schneider Xenar 75mm lens for years with Tri x. I printed 8x8 inch pictures in the darkroom, which I still have. I sold it and bought a Pentax 67 with a 55mm F4 lens lens. Great for colour slides. I didn't like the 6x7 crop in black and white. I sold the Pentax when the prices skyrocketed. I now have a 1957 Yashica Mat with a 75mm 3.5 Lumaxar lens. I love my 8x8 prints again now. I use a Ricoh 8.1 megapixel GR digital camera for moody sharp black and white pictures now. I never use a tripod anymore. I am 76 now Tired of lugging heavy gear. The Ricoh is always in my shirt pocket. Spare battery in my little coin pocket of my jeans. Pocket rocket camera. It never ceases to amaze me with the results I get. The Yashica is easy to carry too. One lens. I can pre frame a shot without even looking through the camera. 75mm is a great focal length.

What a great video, so inspiring to see the possibilities that can be achieved with a fixed lens and one format. Some of the best photographs in the history of photography were taken with a fixed lens camera. So after many years of taking pictures, I am seriously considering getting rid of my DSLR's and kit and going for the Fuji X100V. The reason...to get back to making me think more about the images I want to create, to take more control of my photography. Not forgetting cutting all that weight out of lenses I hardly use. Thanks again for a great video, food for thought!

Takes me back to the days when I first got into photography. My first camera was a Yashica Electro-35, with a fixed 45mm lens. I didnt have to think about which lens to use. I just shot what I saw with my eye. A simpler time.

Really enjoyed this video. Your style is very easy on the ears and eyes. Just a bit of local knowledge. This is an area I go to regularly looking for inspiration? When you took your last shot, you said you were down by the trees & then came back to take the bolder shot. If, on the way to the trees, you look to your right (edge on your left), just before you get to the trees, about 30 feet or so in from the path, there is a small stone circle. Always good for a shot, no matter which direction you want to go. Worth looking for next time you go, also shorter distance if you park on the road, Froggatt Edge side!

Just a foot note to my comment last week. I went back up to Froggatt Edge on Saturday and noticed that the ferns are shoulder high! The circle is impossible to see due to this! This is defiantly a shoot for when the ferns have died back.

Had been waiting for your vids! Welcome back. In the same vein of one lens one format shooting, any chance to make a video on how to shoot with a lens kit? e6 Vlogs True, a lens is a lens after all. I don't own any primes so can't say how they differ except that one zooms and the other doesn't. Should invest in some primes I think.
