OH MY GOODNESS, this is a day I will remember for the rest of my life. I am a beginner Uk player, this is the third song I've learned, and it is one of my MOST favorite songs of my whole LIFE. I know I will enjoy playing this for the rest of my life. THANK YOU!

For anyone confused about the low sound of the top (G) string, she mentions at 4:57 that she's using a low-G stringing of her ukulele. here's an explanation of what that means for beginners: of the ukulele's 4 strings G C E A, the G can be tuned either high (more common) or low (less common). some people choose to use low G because it gives the uke more range on the low side and makes it a bit more deep or "guitar" sounding. most of Cynthia's tutorials are in high G but a few of the recent ones are low G. If you're new, I recommend starting with high G and her earlier tutorials before moving into low G (e.g. this song), only because it would be better to get a sense of the "standard" ukulele sound before moving outside of it. most smaller ukulele's are strung with high-G and usually only the larger uke's are strung low, but re-stringing is something you can do yourself or a ukulele tuner can do it for you.

I almost didn’t watch this tutorial after hearing your beautiful rendition of it at the beginning because I’m a super beginner and thought it would be over my head. But you broke it down and made it so easy to follow along and now I’m super excited to learn it with simple strumming so I can enjoy singling it. 💕💕💕

I wish i had a music teacher like you when i showed so much potential as a child but they focused on my disrupted behavior instead and i spent most of my school years in a class room closet, my hands getting hit with a wooden ruler and my ass getting paddled just for talking to the kid next to me, and my family wonders why i am so distant from humans.I taught myself to play guitar and now i have a love for the uke, i can never give you what you deserve for giving me happiness with your gentile wonderful teaching of this beautiful wood wonder.

There's this song that I've heard finger picked on the ukulele called River Flows in You. I've heard somebody make some very beautiful lyrics for the Twilight movie that goes with this song and it's absolutely beautiful and I so want to learn how to play the song on my ukulele. But I've only been playing the ukulele for a few months and I haven't been able to find any good tutorials that really breaks down the song and shows me one pattern at a time because it's one thing to just read the tabs but it's another when you don't know the exact Rhythm to the song and you need someone that already knows it well to teach you. I hope that maybe in the future you can give us a ukulele tutorial for River Flows In You. I know that I would greatly appreciate it. I truly do enjoy your ukulele tutorials. I've learned a lot in the past six months I've been playing. And I keep getting better and better thanks to all of you ukulele teachers out there.

Just to be clear the low G is actually a different string to the one used in a conventional high G.....you have to fit a low G string to your Uke.....not just tune the existing string low. Aquila low G’s are red Inthink...........Also uke tuners won’t show you a low G and you may have to buy a tuner for a 6 or 8 string Uke.....Korg make the one I bought.... Great tutorial......great song...

Hi I just got a ukelele for my birthday a week ago and I have been learning so much from your channel! You are an excellent teacher and make learning ukelele so much fun! :) I was just wondering, did you tune your open G string to a G3 pitch instead of a G4 pitch? When i'm doing the picking exercise your string sounds lower than mine. Would really appreciate if you could clarify this for me when you get the chance. Thanks! :)

of the ukulele's 4 strings G C E A, the G can be tuned either high (more common) or low (less common). the low G adds more range on the low side and makes it a bit more "guitar" sounding. most of Cynthia's tutorials are in high G but a few of the recent ones are low G. I recommend starting with high G and her earlier tutorials before moving into low G, only because it would be better to get a sense of the "standard" ukulele sound before moving outside of it.
@TheOriginalCyber3d7 жыл бұрын
Most all soprano ukes come with high G sting (that'e the very top string if you are right handed). A low G substitutes that particular string with an octave lower string. That is mostly found in "larger" scale ukes like Tenor, or Concert sizes. BTW, that "G" string is identified as string number 4 (String number 1 is the highest note "A"). Another way of naming a low G uke is a "linear tuned uke" because the notes from strings 4,3,2,1 go from low to high. Not the case with a high G uke.
