I remember early on that you would keep so many bits and bobs no matter the condition. The delight in finding a scrap of a pipe bowl or any whole bottle would fill you with audible joy. I feel well treated 2 episodes Northern Mudlarks and Lost Towers in one evening . Just made my night this has. Having early night travelling down to West Yorkshire again in the morning. Gail/Alex -- when Nicola found an RAOB pipe, I contacted the RAOB and endorsed/promoted Nicola as a member -- for her discovery of RAOB relics and promoting their existence -- they were very polite, but they did say that their charter was for only male members (hmm, that doesn't sound quite right!) -- but they appreciated her efforts. You all should form your own RAOWB -- Royal Antediluvian Order of Women Buffalo!!!

The Order of the Ladies Glade is the Ladies ‘division’ of the RAOB. Although not officially recognized by the RAOB, it has happily existed side by side for many years. My mother and 2 ofmy aunts were in the glades.

I reckon the bit of slate you found was for students in music school to write notes on while they were composing a piece of music, perhaps for an assignment. Wow, what a haul of Codd marbles you both found on this mudlarking adventure! Congrats on your personal world records. My Granny Nelson was five years old when the coin you found was minted. She was born in 1893.

Hello again from Florida! Thank you for the well wishes. We got very lucky with just yard debris. Some of our neighbors took minor property damage but stuff can be rebuilt. No loss of life in our little area, thankfully. The closest tornado landed just a five minute drive from us- still no loss of life thank goodness but overturned cars and a large oak uprooted and tossed against a house. My heart goes out to those suffering major losses from Hurricane Milton and to all still recovering from Hurricane Helene. May all who perished in this hurricane season rest in peace.

Blimey that was a fantastic haul of cod marbles. It boggles the brain to think just how many there are in that land sliding pile of the river bank. The dolls head was so sweet. I'd love to have seen her when she was new and loved by her owner, back in the day. As for the large tooth brush you found Alex, they weren't for use in the mouth. They were used to clean false teeth. Im sure you've heard stories of how back in the past and also not that too long ago really, when you reached the age of 21, you were traditionally offered to have your teeth out. (What a lovely gift 😬) saveing you from all the trouble and expence of dental trauma"s as you grew older. Thankfully things have moved on from then. 😁 xx

Florida has had two hurricanes in just a few weeks' time. North Carolina had Hurricane Milton hit terribly hard; entire towns are gone, schools and universities are closed indefinitely; people are getting government support of the basics of shelter, food, and water. People from all over the stare have rallied with supplies, generators, and help.

Might the bottles have been smashed up to prevent re-use during a cholera outbreak? Remember information on the disease and how it was contracted led to all sorts of odd behaviours, until the cause was discovered.

About the tooth brush, It's great! Loving the handle. AMA has showed interest in the older wide brushes, saying they promoted healthy gums.
