I am blown away by how far on the interior of the house is, I really was expecting a basic shell but you seem to have decorations mostly complete as well. A great house, I'm sure you are both going to enjoy it a lot over the years. You can even look at the deer eating the roses ( They love roses ) in your garden while sat in the office :)

+Michael Collinson oh yes it has most of the interior done! ...the deer .... they are all over the place. Luckily the garden fence is going up.

Very nice. glad it landed with only a few punchlist items (drywall is easy). I am curious if you investigated stick-built of the same floorplan to see how much the modular saved you? I ask because you tickled my curiosity and some google results suggested that after the crane and house-movers costs they come out about even.

Did you get one of those breaker access for water shut offs ? It's neat. You can shut off one part while the rest of the house can still have water
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 8 жыл бұрын
+nintendolunchbox I'm not familiar with that. I know the we have two main shut off.

You mentioned a porch outside that door, bugger a porch put a full on split leveled deck, for those B-B-Q evenings....
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 8 жыл бұрын
+Maurice Brown I suppose a deck is a better word for what I'm referring to. Bigger than a porch.

+desolatetree yes I do have it filmed. Because it was my first desk to build the video is a little scattered. It turned it well!

I know I'm about 7 years late here. But just had a modular home set and I'm curious how the modular was secured to the foundation after drop?

J hooks are set in the concrete blocks. Then large washers and nuts are used to connect the house to the blocks.

I'm always impressed on how big those homes are on the inside, looks like plenty of space. Random question though, is there a particular reason you went with a wood burning fireplace instead of a wood burning stove? I always thought the stoves were better for heating the home, though a wood burning fireplace is head and shoulders above not having a fireplace at all.
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 8 жыл бұрын
+redamaleki the inside really is spacious. We must have looked at 30 designs and this was our favorite. Sadly homecrafters did not have the option for a stove. I'm sure we could have easily install that aftermarket but we wanted to make it easy on us and have it all done at once.

Lol, you didn't want to add another project onto your list? I guess that is what experience brings to the table.
@LandtoHouse

+redamaleki my list is a little full haha. At least we will have wood heat even if a stove would be better.

Fireplaces are about 10% efficient Rocket mass heaters with a warming bench are 90% efficient, so I've heard. Ever since I came across rocket mass heaters I prefer them over fireplaces every time. Over all I didn't see as much cracking as I thought you would have. As long as the alignmetns are good the sheet rock repair will be a breeze.
@tallman11282

Modern fireplaces are actually pretty efficient. It is amazing how efficient they are. I'm sure that is a pretty efficient fireplace as the EPA has strict requirements for fireplace efficiency and if a fireplace doesn't meet those requirements then it can't be sold legally.

+Frank Johnson someday I do intend on looking into the rocket mass stove. They seem fun to work with. There really wasn't much damage with the sheetrock. the guy doing the repairs made short work of it

+tallman11282 I am not too sure of the legality of fireplaces. It does look nice. We will have to give it a try before winter time sets in
