FET & TUBE (tube emulated overdrive circuit) pre amp sections.
500W RMS at 4 Ohms Bass Head (when running at 8 ohms it will produce approx. 250W).
Tested with:
00:00 Laney R115 (1x15)
09:23 Barefaced One 10 (1x10)
10:44 XLR/D.I. Audio
Instrument Cable: REFERENCE Dammi Un Cavo
I preferred to don't pair it with the related Laney DB series and, instead, to use Laney R115 not because I already have it or because it is cheaper... but because Laney R115 weight is 20.6kg while Laney DBC410-4 weight is 25.3kg.
A bass head (in my opinion) should have the following features:
- active/passive switch (or separate inputs)
- be fanless (no hardware background noise so you can use it even for study at home)
- having XLR out
- have ground lift
- have a tuner output
- have a headphone output
- don't weigh a lot
- be solid
- have a good sound :-)
In addition:
- have a wide range of mid options
- have a fx loop
This bass head, apart active/passive switch (and for fanless read below): has all!
It may seems big size but it's not so heavyweight as it seems (7.1kg).
Also, you must consider it's super solid so a case is not required to move it all around.
Hardware is absolutly silent. The DB500H’s output stage is fitted with a high efficiency output stage which is passively cooled. There is a fan on it, but it should only come on in extreme high power usage or during a fault condition. In normal use I doubt it will ever come on.
It also features an internal noise gate to prevent eventual hum.
