I’m amazed so few people have heard of Laney. The company has a great history going back to the 70’s. Fairly sure Hendrix used Laney at some point. I’m looking at this cab. Glad it sounded good.

It’s crazy that this video came out a couple hours after me buying this exact head and cab and now I’m just more excited to play out of it thanks for the great review

Hi, after some use what can you say about this head? Is it loud enough compared to other 500 Watt heads in your experience?

Great review on an amp I had no interest in until seeing this video. I can’t believe it doesn’t have tubes, wow.

A great sounding retro looking bass amp head,it is solid state class D but the tube channel sounds very tube like...i like it that much i've just bought the 500w head...bought the pre-amp DI Digbeth pedal last year, really good sound quality & features...decent price's as well,impressed....well demo'd

Great vid guys!! sounds awsome! But the tube thing, i´ve done some research, in a live streaming when this came out the people of laney said that doesen´t have any tubes. In the webpage they said "tube circuit or tube channel", same thing in the manual schematics. A little tricky IMHO, but sounds great.

How does this compare to other amps? Such as Orange terror...Th 500...etc....I have good earphones but what do you think this compares to? Since this is a review it would be nice to see what you think vs some of the other offerings out there.
@stephenhookings1985 Жыл бұрын
I use a Laney Cub 12r valve 15w max amp to feed a Hartke 4x10 XL. Even at 1w it is freaking loud. The basses seem to sound great thru this too - so I won't be looking for a bass head for a while
@jonsidell33382 жыл бұрын
Sounds good! When you demo the DI would you please send the pedal’s signal to the effects return of the Digbeth amp so we can have a more direct comparison of the 2? Should be pretty easy to A/B as all you would have to do is plug/unplug a 1/4 inch cable. Thanks!

I think companies are at the point where they can almost perfectly replicate tube tone using solid state circuitry or software, but my question is does it ‘feel’ like a tube amp to the player? For me that’s where the magic of tubes still lies. Assuming there are no tubes in it, would you say the Digbeth gets close?
@jonrarmey1220 Жыл бұрын
I dig the tones coming out of these amps, But how is the quality control & long term reliability? I still have a Hartke HA7000 from 1994-95 gigged all over with it for years, maybe not the best stand alone amp without a nice pre in front of it, but it’s still solid as a rock & never broke down once...
