As you will notice from the title of this video, unlike most of our other works, this isn't supposed to be a "similarities" video. In fact, some of the words are completely different in the other language. This video is merely a challenge, some words are similar of course, but some aren't. This was the first ever language video we did where we just tried to apply the vision we had. It got us started and gave us new ideas. You'll notice in our more recent videos, we've improved a lot and made many changes. We are always open to hearing back from you, please contact us on Instagram if you have any ideas or suggestions. German and Persian are Indo-European languages. That is why many words have similar meanings, including terms of kinship. See examples of this: English - daughter, German - tochter, Persian - dokhtar, Russian - docher, Sanskrit - duhita, Armenian - dustr. All of these words go back to the Proto-Indo-European word *dhughter, which means daughter.

Actually the word Russian itself has connection with Lux. In etymology, we know that "R" can pronounced as "L" and "X" can become "S". in Farsi, how ever, "X" became "Z" and now we pronounce it "RUZ" or "Rooz (Rozh in Kurdish)" which means Day. in English we have "Rose" which means "red". in Farsi we have "Sorx/Sorkh" which means again "red". the down starts with a red color in sky. "Sorkh" also has connection with "Roxa" like "Roxxanna" which is a Persian name meaning pale/reddish woman (in old Persian).Roxa also pronounced "Roshan" ("Rosha + ian" Ian is likeliness suffix) in modern Farsi . the modern version of "Roxxanna" is "Roshanak in Farsi / Rosha in Kurdish". therefore in Persian tounge Rus and, Russian means Pale people. and lux means Light = Red= sorkh=pale= Rosha =Russia !

Mari Ani I see your point. Standard German was developped from Old High German. That means German had undergone the “Second Consonant Shift” (Zweite Konsonantenverschiebung) causing (High) German differed from Low German, Dutch and English: d > t; b > p; g > k; t > z; p > pf; k > ch. The consonant shift made English phonology different from German despite of the same West Germanic languages while phonetically more similar to Persian in some cases, for example “door” in Persian is “dar” (voiced consonant) while German became voiceless “t” as “Tür/Tor”. That’s why Persians can guess English/German word easier than via versa (specifically those who speak High German dialects).

I was raised in many different countries and strangely enough I attended primary school in Hamburg and Munich and although my mother tongue is Farsi /Persian , as a young boy I found German language very difficult and a bit scary , I remember the first time I heard the word Achtung which means Notice or something like that, I freaked out ! I have been living in London since 1983 and I don’t think Farsi or Persian has any similarity to German or English because languages change fast even in one generation they can change so although Farsi /Persian is an indo-European language and some of the words still are very similar yet because of thousands of years of not having a geographical connection the related languages have evolved in many different ways, here in london the younger generation speak differently in that the words they use in social media are made up words that a generation ago can’t understand, that’s how fast languages can change , especially if they’re not scripted , I think it’s very difficult to analyse things like ethnicity and languages because of so many factors that we can’t fathom at the present because we are living in such a different world now and the world was a very different place even 100 years ago , humanity is so connected nowadays but 100 years ago there was no connection between different remote parts of the world, we are living in a very strange reality these days and our great grandfathers lived in a very different reality to ours .

Thanks Sajjad jan! You're right, so that's why, unlike most of our other works, I didn't title it "similarities". In fact, some of the words are completely different in the other language. This video is merely a challenge, some words are similar of course, but some aren't. This was the first ever language video we did where we just tried to apply the vision we had. It got us started and gave us new ideas, which is why in the more recent videos, we've improved a lot and made many changes.

Kaputt is used in english. It doesn't mean broken so much as not working. Broken means more terminally destroyed where as not working is more like it CAN be fixed.

In German i use the word kaputt for sometimes it is done forever and can not be repaired or it is just not working at the moment; classic example would be any interaction with the Deutsche Bahn - somehow they managed to be kaputt all the time and no one knows if it is fixable... 🚊⚡

Alright, this is blowing my linguistics-loving mind, pineapple is called ananas in every North Indian language. It has to be more than a cognate or loanword, perhaps a proto IE word. Oh, and BTW, eight is asht in Sanskrit. Edit: It's a loanword, from the South American Tupi language. I was mistaken.
@jaspertjie

'Ananas' comes from 'nanas', a word in a South American native language (Tupi). This word was borrowed into Portuguese, from where it was loaned further into other European languages.

I went into some detail with ancestry from the bible for both Germany and Iran in another comment. I thought it was comprehensive enough to mention here: Noah-3 sons-Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Shem's sons: Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, Aram, and Elam. With regard to Iran, we are definitely, DEFINITELY taking about ancestry from Elam, esp. in Persia/Southern Iran, but also some amount of ancestry from a few of the other sons of Shem-Arphaxad at least (more connections with Arabians, Jews, Semitic folks, etc. Also Joktan, the brother of Peleg (descendant of Arphaxad), who had a bunch of sons that settled in various areas of the Middle East on toward India, etc. (Peleg came before Abraham/was a not too distant ancestor of Abraham the prophet, etc.) The Jews and Ancient Israel were scattered all over the place some 500 years + or so before Christ). But mainly Elam, we're definitely talking about Elamites here with Iran. Germany is said to have some ancestry from the ancient Assyrians, so that would be Asshur, regarding ancestors from Shem. But, it is also believed that some of ancient scattered Israel-Ephraim, etc., migrated north to Germany as well. Regarding ancestry from Japheth, both nations have quite a lot of ancestors/ancestry from this son of Noah... For Germany, we're primarily looking at Gomer, son of Japheth, particularly Ashkenaz (Nordic/Saxon/Scandinavian), son of Gomer, as well as Togarmah (more connected with Eastern Europe, Balkans, Caucasus, Turkey, etc.). Riphath is more connected with the Bretons/Brythonic Celts of Britain/the Welsh, etc., so there may be some small remnant of Riphath in parts of Germany, but in much smaller amounts compared to Ashkenaz and Togarmah. I'm sure there are some others from Japheth in Germany, but Gomer is DEFINITELY the main Japhethite here... (Tiras, son of Japheth, is more connected with the Vikings and Baltic nations-Sweden, Latvia, etc., as well as ancient Thrace, Troy/Trojans, etc.) For Iran, Madai in the north of Iran (Media/Medes) is the main connection with Japheth. (Madai is directly connected with the ancient Aryans. Combined with Elam, they spread out to the east and made up much of the ancestry of folks from Afghanistan and Pakistan, and clearly Northern India, on down to mixing with Cush, also Phut, Canaan, etc. in Southern India and onto SE Asia...) Gomer via Togarmah is likely present in NW Iran, near the Caucasus. Magog is prob. much less common, but may be present as well, more in NE/N Iran... Regarding ancestry from Ham, Germany likely has NO or very, very little ancestry from Ham. If there is any in very minute amounts, it is prob. connected with Canaan via Heth/Hittites, who were in ancient Turkey and may have mixed a bit with ancient Assyria, who then settled parts of ancient Germany/mixed with Gomer/Ashkenaz/Togarmah, Ephraim/Israel, etc. I also don't personally put very much stock in the Huns or Magyars (Hunor and Magor) being from Cush, thats likely not the case, its more likely that the Huns, Magyars, Alans, etc. that came from Central Asia and mixed with Germans and Slavs in Central/Eastern Europe, Balkans, etc. had some degree of ancestry from Canaan, along with Magog, Togarmah, Tubal, etc. The Huns, etc. don't really make up very much of the ancestry of Southern Germans, Austrians, etc., or at least, maybe Austrians, hard to say really. The Germans, Slavs and Huns/Magyars/Avars/Alans in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Romania, Balkans, etc. have just become so mixed over the middle ages in these areas, etc. With regard to Ham and Iran, the primary connection would definitely be via Canaan, and the olive to light brown complexions of Southern Iranians/Persians, and most folks in the Middle East in general, is attributed mainly to Canaan. (Mizraim centered more in Egypt, Phut was more in NW and West Africa, along with parts of East Africa, Yemen, Southern/SE Asia, etc., and there has been a lot of mixing of Canaan and Phut in Southern/SE Asia, etc. Canaan is also VERY present in China, etc. Cush is basically Africa, Tamils/Southernmost India, etc., there is prob. no Cushitic blood in Iran, only Canaanite and poss. a small bit from Phut, but unlikely.) Descendants of Cush tend to stand out more compared to most other folks, because they have particularly dark skin, much more so than other Hamites, who are more olive toned to light brown or brown skinned, etc. All in all: Germany: GOMER (Ashkenaz, Togarmah), Ephraim (Israel), lesser amounts of Riphath, Asshur, Tiras. Iran: MADAI, ELAM, Arphaxad, Canaan, lesser amounts of Gomer and poss. other sons of Shem (Asshur is a possibility). The Japhetic Indo-European connection between Germany and Iran is LIKELY THE STRONGEST CONNECTION between these two nations anciently, followed by Shemite/Semitic connections to a lesser extent...
