@@michaelbarlow6610 it’s a ballad, and you’re looking at an action scene of some man running in the jungle punching toe bad guys. It’s not a bad song, but I think it would have looked better if it had more traditional credits instead of credits over live action, and the actual opening scene had just had instrumental music to set the tone. It sounds better on the title credits at the end though. Still, it wasn’t the song they wanted to go for, but they had to do it because Michel Legrand had the rights to the title song. It’s just a bit bland, even though she’s a great singer. Michael Legrand did a poor job with this film, the soundtrack is not great.

+wowgek7 You're right about Craig being an insult to the Bond legend, but don't give up on 007. He will return to form eventually. The key to understanding the travesty of the Craig years is Timothy Dalton. In the 80s, Eon Productions' development of the Bond character through their decision to cast Dalton in the role came closer than any other incarnation of Bond to reaching apotheosis-- the true Bond of Ian Fleming's novels. Like the literary Bond, Dalton's Bond was something of a Byronic hero: dark, sullen, moody, deeply affected by women but not sexually promiscuous, and with all the Byronic physical characteristics, e.g., dark hair, light complexion, a cruel mouth. Unfortunately,, Eon Productions had a contract dispute with MGM, and the Dalton years were cut short. In addition to the Living Daylights and License to Kill, he would've starred in Bond films approximately in 1991 and 1993. The Craig Bond is an attempt to revive the Dalton Bond and redeem a lost opportunity. Craig's Bond possesses many of the intangibles of Dalton's Bond, especially his sensitivity and moodiness. Of course he looks nothing like Dalton, or the Bond composite of legend, which doesn't sit well with many Bond fans, myself included. But where the Craig era really disappoints is in its proclivity to melodrama and sentimentality: the films come off as soap operas with lots of violence thrown in. Spectre is a case in point: observe the emotionally fraught "origins" motif the movie was premised on; it was almost as if it were cribbing from Days of our Lives or (worse yet) Harry Potter.

+wowgek7 Eon had an agreement in place with Idris Elba to play Bond-- but it fell through. He would've at a minimum been interesting in the role, and such a casting choice would perhaps have absolved Eon Productions of its sorry indulgence in cheap racism vis a vis Live and Let Die.

Very lovely lady with a beautiful voice of all times , Lani Hall was discovered by Sergio Mendes in her native city of Chicago , Sergio invited to her join in his new group They known as Brasil 66, she flew to Los Angeles , and became a lead vocalist and she already accepted his offer, Sergio mendes and Brasil 66 was very popular in the middle of the 60s he recorded more than thirty five albums , one of my favorite band in the 60 s until now I'm still fan of the Brasil 66 , I've bought some CD as my collection

With all due respect to the late, great Phyllis Hyman who recorded this theme first for the film (which was not used), I think the right decision was made to go with Ms. Hall's version. It's so silky smooth and haunting. Ms. Hall and her amazing husband Herb Alpert (he's playing trumpet in the extended version) really conjured an otherworldly ambiance with this delicious rendition.

Easily one of the best 007 themes, shame they didn't make this one of the official ones with a proper intro with this song. This song and the movie was highly underrated
@dougortega36712 жыл бұрын
It's not included in the canon of songs because this film wasn't a Broccoli/Saltzman production. The rights to this story were bought by someone else (if I remember the story correctly). Connery hated those guys and broke with them and decided to do this film instead of the official film. It was a very contentious time for the original Bond filmmakers.

Underated or not, it was a damn REMAKE ! (of "Thunderball) but they pretended that it was a fresh Bond rendition, and made it to compete with "Octopussy" the same year (1983). I hate that mentality !.

I no its not a official Bond film but technically it is the very last Bond film as Bond retires after this final mission

I think it's because it's so similar to Thunderball. When the story broke that Connery was going to play Bond again we were hoping for a great storyline. Basically Thunderball with a few changes

The songs you mentioned are bombastic mediocrity. Lani has enough emotion in her voice to convey the spirit of the song. Mccartney was always a bad singer. Each to his own?🤷

With such a perfect voice, I've never understood why Lani Hall hasn't become more of a star. When I listen to Madonna after hearing Lani Hall, Madonna sounds like a cat being strangled. But Madonna has dedicated her entire life to being famous, and perhaps Lani had other priorities.
@unpopularopinion54493 жыл бұрын
Please. Lani sounds like a wounded goat in this song. Her pitch is off in so many parts its ridiculous. And, tbh she really isn't all that pretty here either. I don't understand how she managed to get a Bond song.....one I've never ever heard until recently. Madonna may not be the best singer in the world, but she beats this chick 10 to 1.

Lani Hall is the brunette in Brazil 66. She was with them for years. The change was with her other female members. Also Herb Albert and Lani were and are still very much in love and still married after all these years. Definately not a sugar daddy situation.
