Must admit I'm finding it harder to distinguish riders in the overhead shots this year - too many teams with very similar dark blue/white tops - especially hard to distinguish Quickstep and Alpecin (Yes I know Phillpsen had the red jersey), or FDJ and Bike-Exchange. Had to watch the live coverage back a few times to be able to spot everyone in the last km. Shame the top sprinters aren't riding for the likes of EF or Jumbo Visma....

Don't forget that the person who holds the record is Belgian and, as talented and respected, as he is, Cavendish is not the most popular person in the Peloton. Jacobsen's recovery from that dreadful crash, and the success that has followed is still a good bit of publicity for the sponsors. That's why, but I really hope that Cav's performance in the Giro gets him a place in the team for the Tour. It could be, of course, that riding the Giro, is consolation for not riding the Tour, but neither Evenepoel, nor Alaphippe can be regarded at this time to fulfill, Quickstep's GC aspirations, so why not field both Cavendish and Jacobsen in the Tour and let them help one another to share the spoils? Single day races are Quickstep's speciality, and and Cav has a good reputation for finishing tours in good form. All Cav needs is another win on the Champs Elysees to get two records. Now that would be double bubble in many ways for the sponsors. Note: It's speculation but Cavendish could have already have broken the record. 2014 Cav hit a bump very close to the line, the loss of a fraction of a second possibly gave Kittel the win. 2016 Having already won 4stages and showing good form, Cav withdrew in order to prepare for the Olympics. Most of those he was competing against then, have retired, Cav's still winning. Quickstep, he's already rewarded you for what you've invested in him. Give him a chance!!!!

Interesting to see that the riders followed the curves of the lines on the road which were not parallel to the barriers. Seems like a lot of previous discussions about dangerous sprint moves analyze the straight lines in the road that are sometimes not parallel to the curved barriers. This race shows how much the riders follow the lines, given how their sprint position naturally forces them to look more at ground ahead than the barriers to the sides.

I sat here watching as they closed in on finish line. For those that have seen all his big wins, since 4 stages at le Tour in '08, tears of joy came, He has done it again. Enjoy this folks, bc this is extremely special. Unlike almost all the guys/announcers that were shocked and admittedly never expected Mark to win again, I did. I never gave up hope/belief he'd be on podiums again. More than once, we waited long spells for a TDF stage win, years we waited as he alone won the biggest battles (with epstein-barr) etc. 2 wins in 2 weeks, age 36. Just like all aged Cav fans that have enjoyed the 'ride' from early on, we just hope he remains injury free, and has a shot at the finish line. Imagine if he could've been competitive in 17, 18, 19, and 2020. 2 stage wins, total. Cheers

There has never been anybody even close to Cav AFAIK in terms of longevity as a pure bunch finish sprinter. If he maintains his form Lefebvre would have a hard time justifying his being overlooked. It's remarkable that he even has the appetite for it after so many years as a pro. If he has a solid season and looks like he can make it around the tour stages he should be selected. Unlike a lot of other situations where you could argue for "heat of the moment" or "sprinter's reflex" this one is 100% premeditated: he looks back & drives straight into the pack. This is where the UCI should step in if they were really concerned about rider safety. But no, let's instead make sure no one has their socks pulled up too high.

Hey guys, I need the help of the cycling community! I still can't get my head around that Remco Evenepoel is almost a minute faster than Stefan Küng on a not super hilly ITT. He is way shorter, therefore lighter and may only have gains in the aerodynamic position due to his height. I always thought on a flat course max power in watts will always be superior, and therefore a almost 20kg heavier Küng should have higher peak numbers. What factors are, obviously, more decisive than max power? Is Remco's position on the bike so much better? We are talking about the highest level in pro cycling so i can't believe thats the answer... Looking forward to some enlightenment! Thanks guys!
