Hmong sausage does not have pa deck (shrimp paste), while the lao has it. that is one of the key ingredient difference.

Hmong sausage are okay, but Lao sausage just taste a lot better IMO. Most Hmong sausages I've had either taste like salt with a hint of lemon grass, or are just stuffed with a lot of fat.

They all taste great I don't know why you anybody would compare them. We got Mom Uncle and auntie making their own, One has more fat one has more skin one has no skin one has a little bit more rice to make it sour. The all taste good.

I’m kinda confused. Isn’t Hmong sausage just a variation of Lao sausage? How can you take an ethnic Recipe that already existed from a group of people, tweak it a little bit and call it something else? That’s like Spanish people eating Italian sausage then calling it Spanish sausage.

Hmong sausage is our take on Laos and Thai sausage because Hmong people been in Lao and Thailand a couple of hundred of years. Basically their home country. Hmong food is a take of where they're from, a lot of Hmong OG's speaks Lao and Thai. If not than all, Even Vietnamese as well. They make food from where they come from. Like Chef Yia said, Hmong food is a variation of their migration but yes! A lot of the food is Lao, thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese originated. It's like us Asians in America eating burgers everyday or every other day, and than we make it suited for our taste bud or our take on the burger.

you rarely see lao ppl show love to hmong food. its always "you eat rice and water with salt and pepper" but if you dive deep, we have some good stew, stirfry and purple sticky rice.

That Laos vendor for Sacramento 2022-2023 was a complete joke!! Tiny sausage without rice…. Rice you had to order on the side! When you do order it… it was one bite of rice!!! All of it was double the price ob Hmong sauce including rice!!!! Was so disappointed!!!! They got me once but never again!!! Hmong people are not stupid….. next day…. The line for that Laos vendor went down to almost nothing!!! You can see…. No repeat customers!!! Only people that did not know!
